How many like me use e-cigarettes? I smoked for 40 years until I used them then stopped overnight. None of the medical cures ever worked for me. I feel so much better since stopping and I don't miss them at all. I'm so relaxed about it I can smoke a cigarette to be sociable with someone and then go straight back onto my e-cig without any cravings.

I'm a total convert, and my friends are rapidly following suit. I stopped smoking for 4 months and then something grim happened one day and by the end of that day I was pretty much chain-smoking so decided I'd switch to vaping as a lesser evil. Have been happily vaping for almost 4 months now and progressively lower nicotine strength as time goes by, so v v pleased with it. Haven't had a ciggie at all since starting vaping:T0

Using these since Feb this year and I have to say they are great :T still have the odd real ciggy (very naughty I know) but I'm saving a fortune and improving my health every day.
Won't be long till the govt start taxing these bad boys too as tobacco revenue continues to fallI am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
I am glad to see some local premises banning these and hope that this becomes more widespread http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-28937610
Good to see that for example Translink have done so https://www.translink.co.uk/Documents/Services/metro/No%20Smoking%20Policy%5B1%5D.pdf
I am still recovering from a reaction to the vapours as I was unfortunately sitting beside a woman using an e cig at a concert last Saturday night.0 -

As a non-smoker and chemical safety expert, I was horrified to closely examine the information on some of the oils. Let me tell you for starters, the health and safety information provided with some of these clearly indicates that the manufacturers/supplier does not have the expertise to do it correctly (because some of it is simply wrong under the relevant regulations). In itself, that would panic me - if they cannot get the (easy to do) health and safety info correct, how on earth can you trust in the product that they are selling?! Even if you forgive them this, why would you smoke an oil which states "may be fatal if inhaled"? OK, it is likely not going to be worse than cigarettes, but the people who make these things are not really certain (and may not even be sufficiently knowledgable to assess this), so how can you be? Fair enough, do it for yourself but I feel a bit unhappy when someone puffs this "potentially fatal" vapour at me and tells me it is harmless - it clearly isn't!
As a chemical industry worker, I could do any number of things with chemicals which would horrify people but would have less health and safety implication. In any workplace, to vapourise a product which claims it may be fatal if inhaled would be a serious breach of health and safety... but somehow, because this is a cigarette substitute, people suddenly ignore the usual H&S concerns.Always overestimating...0 -
Interesting x12yhp.
E-Juice basically has only 3 main ingredients - we have distilled water, PG/VG, and flavourings
The main ingredient in e-cig juice is propylene glycol (PG) which is also found in a lot of what we ingest daily, including chocolate and lots of other foods. E-number E1520 -within the EU it bares no warning signs and as it is legally classified as harmless
Then there is Nicotine which is only slightly worse for you in low doses than caffeine. Quick google will confirm this, obviously toxic if you drink large quantities (not to be recommended)
Vegetable glycol (VG) is used in the food industry as a preservative and sweetener and generally classed as harmless.
When buying e-juice make sure you know the ingredients but the vast majority will contain only these these three (may be more than one flavouring)
Now, compare that to a cigarette, which has about 400 ingredients in it, and when you light that on fire a process takes place which creates over 4000 chemicals. I know I am happy with my e-cigarette choice!!
As a chemical worker x12yhp I would be really interested to know what research or info you hold to have the confidence to say that e-juice is "potentially fatal"0
