The Stoptober 2014 Challenge - How much will you save?

Hi everyone -- may I join you?
I have just found this thread and I too am stopping the white stick.
I stopped with no problem over 20 years ago but over the past 2 years due to lots of personal family illness I gradually went fully back on them. Stupid I know! I have been trying to stop for some time now and gave them up last Saturday. Since then I was smoke free (6 days) until the nasty little voice in my head insisted I had one today. I intend to be a non smoker from tomorrow again and I know I will succeed (positive thinking!)
Reading this forum will help I know. Thank you

Welcome Annie6.
You did six days and had a little blip. I think you've done well. Are you doing it cold turkey or using nicotine replacements? How much money do you think you've saved already?

to all those beating themselves up - DON'T !!!!
no-one said it would be easy, no-one said there wouldn't be some hard times, but think of it this way....every fag less is an achievement, every time you don't light up it's a small victory, so hang in there......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I'm trying so hard but cravings are still bad, at least getting longer between them. I've cheated (myself) a couple of times, but as much as I'm disappointed, 2 cigs is better than 20 and I'm still trying.
Hope everyone else is doing ok?ITV Winners Club Member (106)

I can't sleep or my brain won't let me sleep. One of the side effects of nicotine withdrawal. I hope this doesn't go on for weeks/months. I can't function properly with no sleep. :mad:16/10/2016 £9176.11 paid off 13/01/2017

Poor you not sleeping, that's awful but nicotine is such a strong drug isn't it. I was frightened I wouldn't cope and am using an e cig - they are on half price offer at Superdrug, called the Vivid if you are thinking of using any support. I'm not using it as much as I was on Day 1 and hope to get rid of it but after 40 years of 'sucking' do find it is helping.£216 saved 24 October 20140

Thanks Youth Leader. I went back to bed at 3.30 and slept through til 7. Feel tired now but will try not to have a nap later. Least I haven't got a busy day planned. It's going to rain all day.
Think I'm doing ok with the cold turkey method. Just stresses from work can trigger the need for one.
So what's everyone up to today?16/10/2016 £9176.11 paid off 13/01/2017

Well here's day 4, I haven't had any more blips since the other day and my other half has told me he's proud of me for doing it, he bought me a rainbow ecig as he thought I'd like it
I've started having nightmares which I haven't had for years and woke up quite scared this morning, I figure it's part if the withdrawal but instead if reaching for a cig like I normally would I made bread and by the time my hands were clean (and I'd bashed my frustration out on the dough!) I felt much better and calmer. I'm hoping to get some knitting time in to distract me as it raining all day today so can't go anywhere but if the kids let me is a different matter!
