    expect it for the price

People make a big issue of the price, but how different is it to the launch price of the Galaxy S5, or Note3 or Note4?

Especially when you consider the resale value of the iPhone in 12 months or having the 12 month hassle free customer service for warranty issues with handset swap for virtually any warranty fault.

Well said, I just sold my Iphone 5 for £150 I paid £109 upfront for it I think and £42 ish a month for 2 years (yes before any !!!!!! comments I understand I was paying for the phone.. but I am used to getting a fone with no upfront cost for about £40 a month) so to get £150 back was most useful and welcome after 2 years of having the product.

shame they don't give 2 year warranty as standard like others if they think their products are made to last. The macbooks have electric shock issues which they have refused for years to correct
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

One thing you can't fault Apple for is their customer service.

Unless the "genius" knows less than you;)

I took an iphone which wouldn't sync properly into a store and despite the staff looking at it, and the associated laptop, for an hour they didn't manages to sort it. They did say that they had backed it up to the last good point with as much data as could be found.

    Unfortunately this was incorrect.

I took it home and after some searching on the internet I did restore all the data.

I did go back to the store to explain what I had done only to be told that the store didn't have access to the third party software I had used.

Having said that, generally they are a helpful bunch.

Awesome, glad you got it sorted!

You need to stand your ground. If you buy from the apple shop direct under EU law they have to give 2 year warranty on everything bought

That's not "knowing less than you", that's just the staff doing their job as taught, there aren't many companies that would allow their staff to use unauthorised third party software to repair a customers equipment. It's not worth the potential liability issues if a problem occurs down the line after being used.

Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that when Apple is the retailer it is now the normal procedure to offer 24 months cover.

Friend of mine at work took his misses' iphone back to store after 18 months because the battery had started leaking into its own case causing it to swell up. They said they couldnt do anything because she hadnt bought the phone direct from them

He used the EU law to get EE to accept it was their responsibility and the fone was replaced by them

Yes, Apple seem to have become quite flexible on what they sell directly, networks and other retailers can be a little more hit and miss in the second year.
