I've been lurking in this thread for a few days, trying to get my head around glitches, apgs and whatnot (still not entirely sure what triggers and invisible triggers are, but that's by the by).
I've learned a lot, and stocked up on pasta sauce, so I thought I'd share something that I noticed, which I don't think I've seen mentioned anywhere.
If you're doing a muller shop, you're better off buying 12 than 10.
Buying 10 costs you £4 (40p each), but msm thinks you paid £6.80. Then it compares with sainsbos @ £5.76 for the same number of yoghurts, giving an apg of £1.62. So your 10 yoghurts end up costing you £2.38, or 23.8p each.
But sainsbos are on 6 for £3, so only buying 10 means you miss out on a multi buy and end up comparing full price to full price on 4 pots.
So if you buy 12 it costs you £5.36, but msm thinks you spent £8.16. Which means you get an apg of £2.76, bringing your actual spend after apg down to £2.60, or 21.6p per pot.
Apologies if this is something you all automatically do, but I was staring at my apg comparison and trying to work out why I was getting the 50p comparison price on some but not others, and kicking myself when I realised what I'd done.
Of course if you buy 30 pots then it comes down to 20p each, but who has the fridge space for that? :rotfl:
Thnaks for this I have been buying in 10's, makes sense to buy in12's now. This would go well with the pasta sauce then? We're just happy to have a home, a family and our health. Whatever else is just added and it fits.0 -

Thank you!
CBY Cheese Slices:eek::eek: - why not S/P Cheese Slices, always cheaper and undoubtedly much the same? Good price per kg and they too go N/A vs everywhere, so are a good filler (IMO).
Those Rolo Desserts at the moment are good vs M - although not getting any 10% but watch out as they may return in M and at £1.99:eek:. Price on 4 pack in A is cheaper than the 2 packs in M at expensive 62p. However, they are all branded desserts and, probably, way too expensive anyway. Why not go for S/P Choc. Mousse at 18p, or cut them out altogether?:rotfl: Money-saving!
Looking at that comp., it seems I have got awareness now of every item that compares favourably on the APG vs M. To be fair they don't tell me much and it's been a while now since the APG made me aware of a comparison, of the type that we could use, on an item vs M that I wasn't already aware of. But, you never know - I always think I'm short in the fresh meat and the alcoholic drinks areas. It's probably because differing pack sizes in meat mean that few are comparable - they also vary (sometimes from week to week) in M and even between different M stores meaning they sometimes don't compare on the APG - if you notice any good comparisons let me know! As for alcohol, I just miss that, mainly because individual prices too expensive for me:rotfl:, but then some items are more expensive:laugh:.0 -

As long as you make sure the pasta sauce is one sold by sainsbos, yes.
(For ref AvM on yoghurts works out at 26p per pot when you buy 10 because Morries has them on at 5 for £3, instead of 6 for £3)Oct Challenges: Make £5 a day - £5.18/£155 Grocery Challenge - £0/£2000 -

That's vs Sains - and also useful for N.I. But doesn't buying vs Waities (10 - you might not need any fillers as lots of different ones anyway) work out cheaper? As you get mbuy for 8 of them. I thought Sainsbobs was slightly more expensive than T anyway, due to individual price being a penny higher there.
Waities - 20.24p per pot (buying 10), may go up or down to 20.2p/20.3p depending on exactly what comparable total is, whether it is exactly divisible by ten or whether it rounds up to the nearest penny.
Of course, without the Mullers, you may be short of items on a Sainsbob comp that you were already going to do with other items. Then weighing up the cost (less 10% if applicable) of having to buy extra fillers for the Sains shop and a separate shop vs Waities, vs having to buy an extra two Mullers and the cost of those compared to what the additional fillers to reach eight on a Sainbob comp would have been. (It's very simple!:rotfl:) Not sure everyone would go to such lengths!0
