Lovely! Is this for your school harvest festival? Who's going to wear the bee hat to go with it?

ive not seen the other hats but apparently one is covered in flowers, one has a bee on it, then theres mine and another with a hive on.
the junior children are going to wear them and the 'bee' will buzz around the flower then head for the pollen and take a ball of pollen off (one is slightly lighter in colour and fixed on with velcro) then he will take the pollen ball to the wearer of the hive hat who will produce a jar of honey!!
i was just asked to make the remaining hat and was given that brief

Mrs MP.. I bet your neighbours are delighted to get rid of the eyesore.. their garden must be transformed!! Next door has 2 conifers and I want to shimmy over the fence and burn them to dust.. those and the ancient apple tree that shed rotting apples and dead leaves in my garden 3 months of the year..

i admit i planted them as little twigs about 30 years ago but weve always kept them at below 10 foot and in the past five years theyve been down to about 7 foot. when we first broched the subject with the neighbour she got quite upset and said the birds would be made homeless and she didnt want to see them go. thats partly why we are taking them away in stages to allow them to acclimatise to it (i think the hubby is fine about it hes already said he'll pay towards the fence and offered advice etc on it)
we lose the afternoon and evening sun but i think they will benifit from morning sunlight and will be able to grow more to the flower bed along the boundary as the conifer roots wont be sucking the life and moisture away.
if i knew then what i know now the conifers would never have been planted it would have been fence straight away.:o

  • Afternoon, I typed a post last night about midnight, well half typed a post, then woke mid way through to find I had deleted it.

DD1 was collected from Colchester train station, went and cleared out Asd@ yellow stickers, 6 bags of shopping for £7.50 kerching, so worth the petrol going and getting her, plus we were back in the house by 10.30.

Ionafan, yes you will be pleased to know I have managed to snaffle down some Danish pastries dipped in tea to get them nice and soggy.....even better than I got them for 10p each.

Flying yesterday, DS wanted to help "cure" my sore jaws by doing "all my jobs". He WU'd 4 plates and cups, while I DUPA'd. He squeezed bleach in downstairs loo under supervison and gave it a scrub. He wiped down TV cabinet and nest of tables in LR and windowsills. He wiped up his WU water that spilled on the floor and then put my noodle mop slippers on to dry the floor. DD4 wanted to help with washing folding using the flip-flopper which was helpful and hilarious in equal measure :rotfl: DD3 was on DD4 and cooking duty. I cleaned downstairs sink and S&S kitchen surfaces, LR degibbled and hoovered, great Washing hunt and 4 loads through WM overnight on cheap leccy. DW topped up salt, rinse aid and cleaning cycle with vinegar and all sides and seals scrubbed. My room floor has been de-gibbled ready for hoovering, and all my BR hotspots gathered in a box for sorting later.

Log burner set up ready to light tonight as it was very cold in the house this morning with condensation on the windows. Dehumidifier brought into LR ready to help with DD1 washing dry off since whirligig broke.

DS taken to big school, can't avoid buying PE kit any longer. Got school branded T shirt, 3 pairs of plimsolls in increasing sizes, can't get cheap silky football shorts in town, so may have to visit Bay of E later. Went into QueueDees got offers on 4 kids T shirts for £3, and 3 adult for £3. Also they have Frorence and Fled boys school trousers for £1.99 a pair, other bargains boys joggers £1.99 a pair. So DS now has T's and trousers to last him to age 12, so if I can't get any decent bundles on Bay of E I won't worry.

Went to get DD3 from school, saw a care home with a big skip full to bursting and loads of wooden pallets stacked up on it. Knocked and asked manager if I could help give them more space by taking away the pallets, he said if I didn't sue them for injuring or splintering myself, I could take what I wanted :money::D:D:D I will get my gas and electric bill to a reasonable level without madness and deprivation.

Going to keep my eyes open for more building sites, skips and tree surgeons at work, as I haven't been knocked back yet!

Right, painkillers and nap...then will be back to catch up on Fred later
The cold never bothered me anyway
  • DS2 has just given me the two cheques i sent in as payment for things at school earlier this week and said the office couldnt use them. i must have been having a dizzy moment. id filled them both in correctly but in the box where you write the amount in figures id written £25 followed by -9-14. Doh because they were for £25 and i was thinking that it was 25th they needed to be in by i just turned it into the addy. have written new ones for tomorrow:o
now hoping the facias cheque was not the same:eek:

Wow, 6 bags for £7.50 :T:T:T Welcome home to your DD1
I am insanely jealous that you are eating Danish pastries. I haven't had a pastry for a whole year :p
And well done to your DS for all his flying :T He's done far more than me today.
:T :T to DD3 and DD4 too for their help.

I have 45 minutes to complete my boxes before I have to go and cook tea, 'cos I'm off to choir practice tonight and we'll be leaving the house at about 9.15 tomorrow morning to get to my friend's by 10.00. Must set up the laminator and remember to switch it on...
  • brilliant bargains skinty, hope you manage to source some free freewood. might be worth keeping a look on freecycle ive seen pallets offered on there.

iona hope you get your boxes and all other tasks done in the time allowed.

im on the 3rd of 4 balls for the blanket and have found another ball of the smae wool so hopefully if time allows i can knit a lacy edge to finish it off as well.

An hour in the garden, and I have decluttered one and a half overgrown shrubs. :D I have been told off for sawing when I'm supposed to be resting, but I did it very carefully.

    Cup of tea time now.

Last update for today, I'll grab the extras etc tomorrow while DD does her homework, after the landlady has been and we've run errands in the morning. ;)

    Bathroom
Just needs some bog cleaner down it which I'll do tomorrow before we go out ;)

    Kitchen
    mop floor << Later
[STRIKE]Empty[/STRIKE] the bin and wash it out

Living Room, Hall & Stairs :D

    Bedrooms :D

Just having a coffee then I'm off back out to work. Not worth going out bang on 6pm as half the customers won't be in from work yet ;) Going to write my list for tomorrow while I'm sitting here.
