I don't see that there will be any change in the number of non-payers.
There will be an increase in the number of ANPR cameras and the DVLA already have a data base for exactly that purpose - the disc serves no purpose.
I think this from the DVLA sums it up:
"We have a proven track record in making vehicle tax easy to pay but hard to avoid, with over 99% of all vehicles taxed. Given the systems now in place we take enforcement action direct from our electronic records rather than requiring a tax disc."
That's still 230,000 cars not being taxed.
Sounds a lot but maybe not in the scale of things - wonder if untaxed are also more likely to be uninsured as well though?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
no disc will be sent out - i just bought my car tax and it said clearly on the confirmation that no disc will be sent due to new legislation/no longer need to display one.Debt Free 08/08/2014

Even if you still have a current disc in your vehicle on October the 1st you can remove it if you want or just leave it be.0

If you can be bothered you can remove it...or just leave it. It's up to you.specialboy wrote: »Even if you still have a current disc in your vehicle on October the 1st you can remove it if you want or just leave it be.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

i think it's brilliant, im guessing tax is almost always checked by computer anyway, so it's just making it relevant and up to date.
plus we'll have a bit more clearer view from the drivers seat - just need council residents parkinng to get with it0 -

The Scam is they want to rid themselves of the cost of printing discs but keep the element of outdated monthly runs.
A fair system would run from the day you paid and refund to the day you surrender.
This pocketing 2 months payments is probably unlawful and lets hope someone takes them on.
They want the benefits of a computer system that suit them but want to scam us twice as much whilst doing it.
I would be very interested to see if what they are pulling off here is actually legal.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
How will I know if my company car has been taxed? Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!
