Whats the 'poshest' car you've owned?

Following on from the other thread, where someone has 'taken delivery' of their new car, I wondered how many of us have splashed out on something they always wanted and if it turned out to be what they had dreamed of?

In the mid 1990's, I bought myself a Jaguar Sovereign - it was 4 years old and was owned by a bank originally. A very well specified car, costing over £50k new. Lots of toys, which are standard on many lower priced cars, these days.

What it also had, was a Janspeed twin turbo engine conversion, at just 2000miles. This made it a very rapid car, potentially, but seemed such a waste of money, to more or less, throw away half a perfectly good new engine. As well as costing them nearly £10k to carry out the work.

It was a very nice car to own for a few of years, I paid £9k for it, back then, so not a huge extravagence compared to what the original cost was.

The worst thing was, I spent most of the week, driving my Maestro van, which I was really comfortable in, so the treat to use it at weekends, meant the change in seats gave me back ache!

Next 'dream' is Audi A5 cabrio.

So...what have you had??

    Very nice car.
Once saw a bloke walk past it, and turning round to look at it 4 times, and tripped over lol.
When I had to pay the ex off I sold it and bought a P reg A4 tdi on 180k miles for £600!
Fancy something like a 535d Sport in carbon black next.

It depends what you are calling posh really.
For many their current car maybe so.
For me I'd rather have a higher end older car than a new basic one.
I do like the look of the Jag XE though, may sway me if they prove reliable.

    This ^^

Posh is a socially derived opinion. A fabrication, an illusion.

  • ...my Corsa? *chuckle*

My parents had a British racing green E-Type Jag. I never saw it...as it wasn't exactly a family car they got rid of it when I was born!!

  • Lexus LS430, I bought it 6 years ago for £8,000, apart for the 24MPG it has been very economical to run.

My current Hyundai Sonata. :D Korean fake jaguar, loads of fake wood etc etc. Kim Jong Un wouldn't look out of place in it.
  • Rover SD1 3500 VandenPlas gold colour. Lovely to sit in and great in a straight line, would do well over 120mph!!!!
  • Porsche 928 S4.

It just had a special feeling whenever you got in it that none of my other cars (mostly Porsches and BMW M-cars) has had.
