Hint: if I tell some teenagers they have to stay in and do their homework, but they defy me and go out to a disco, I might say that they have "defiantly gone". So did you tell your money to stay and it went off anyway?
this has nothing to do with the original thread,if i was looking for advice on spelling or grammar i wouldn't have posted on a money advice website,
all you need to know is ive paid for the holiday and as a result Thomas Cook sent me my tickets. I dont expect the transaction to show on my statement over a weekend.0 -
I would go for it and challenge Thomas Cook, I look through the hols and seen the same, don't know how Thomas Cooke can get away with this if they revoke it, especially has it has taken your monies.
cheers trish, i have challenged it with them, im not expecting much mind but im not one just to back down and accept it, they are in the wrong here and they continue to do it.0 -
I went on and had a look at these holidays, it came up and said there was a glitch on the site relating to price which they were working to resolve, so in order to book you had to ring up for the correct pricing.
I admire you trying to get them to honour it and I hope you do get it for £20 but I think they will find their way around it, knowing what these companies are. If the authorisation on your card goes to paid and they take the cash you might stand a chance.
Nothing to lose in trying to get them to honour it. GOOD LUCK!0 -

They are not in the wrong.
There was a system error. Their T & C's state that they will not be bound to any price in those circumstances. You agreed to those T & C's.
Which bit don't you understand ?0 -
I'll admit I probably would have tried to book the holiday the same as you in the hope the error wouldn't be picked up on and, as Simon7685 says, nothing to lose in challenging them - good luck!
Saying that though I wouldn't waste too much of my life on trying to get it for £20. The price was obviously wrong and I highly doubt any court would be on your side if they continue to quote their T&C's.0 -
This, from Thomas Cook T & C's :
"Where a price is obviously incorrect due to a system error, we shall not be bound by such price"
I assume you ticked to agree to the T & C 's ?
I wouldn't waste any time trying to get the holiday for £20, they are never in a million years going to let you have it for that price.0 -

Before going off on a rant like this, you might want to double check what they actually posted.
Hint: The word you quoted was not "defiantly".
Now you just look foolish.0 -

IMO its wrong for a company to sell something for an advertised price, then going back on this and request more money, they have made the error so i feel they are in the wrong. Fair enough an mistakes happen, but if it was me making the mistake, thomas cook wouldnt be so understanding.
I understand what you are saying but as a consumer i have rights. Its wrong for a company to mislead its customers and this is what they are doing.0 -

Thanks, lets see i can get anywhere, im not holding my breath.
...Ive put my complaint over so waiting for their response.0 -

No harm in complaining to see if there may be a goodwill gesture of some sort but if you approach it from the perspective of expecting to assert legal rights then I think you'll be in for some disappointment.
There are many precedents of this sort of thing, see pieces like:
