  • All the best Em! I went on a cruise with family in April and we did go to Venice and Rome among other places. The only drawback is that you don't get that much time in each place. My sister and I went on a tour where we were taken into Rome, dropped off and picked up so we could plan our own day.

We had 6 hours but it was a rush fitting everything in! If you want to see the main sights such as the Vatican museums, Roman Forum and Colisseum then you can purchase tickets online before you go- then when you get there you can just walk past all the queues!

Well that sounds like a plan, but it will be exhausting. How does travel insurance affect you?

Try to combine this with other US stuff. I take it this is tennis like the other stuff and not golf...

You like your tennis don't you? ;)

Try to combine this with other US stuff. It's not far from San Fran for example.

    What kinds of movies?

Ebay. They're quite cheap, even the McB Pros

    See no 20.

This is close enough (though it's still a long way) to NYC to "do" the US open as well.

    See No 20.

    Get married by Elvis?

Well this (linky) knocks 3 off. Remember to pay by credit card (not neccesarily your own) for the protection.

You also get a trip to Mexico rolled in for free.

Probably be best during a US domestic flight. Get more relief from cattle class.

I hope this is of some help and gives ideas.

If you want things to happen, then they can happen. If you want to dream of things, then they will remain dreams.

Thanks ZTD - some great ideas there :)

And yes, I do love my tennis :D

    Great ideas there, Emz:T

I've subscribed to all your diaries over the years and this one has such a hopeful feel to it. it's made me think of making my own list (which will be much shorter as I'm much older than you:( and cheaper to attain as I'd never be able to find enough money to do all I'd like).

Absolutely with you on the tennis ones and pleased you have put them top of the list:j. I'll definitely be putting one of the Opens on my list but know I couldn't manage all 3. As a big Formula 1 fan my biggest sporting wish is to see the Monaco Grand Prix and stroll along the quayside drooling at the millionaire yachts:cool2:

Did you once mention hoping to stay at Cromlix? Maybe that's 5-star (I don't know) so that might tick 2 boxes, or 3 if you had room-service there:)

Good luck to you anyway, you are a truly inspiring lady with such an optimistic outlook:kisses3:

The tennis ones I would love to do. I've already done Wimbledon, so would like to complete the grand slam set. Australia will be the tough one. Not sure I can cope with the spiders over there too

My OH is into F1, so I reckon Monaco would be on his bucket list for sure. I'm sure I could handle tagging along with him ;)

    What a fabulous list.

OH and I had a very good value trip to Venice on a Travelzoo offer with Fleetway Travel earlier this year. We stayed in the 5* Venice Hilton during the last weekend of the carnival and it was magical. We still can't believe how little we paid.

Fleetway Travel send me email offers for 5* hotels around the world so it may be worth signing up for their emails as well as Travelzoo as they may come up with offers for other places on your list too.

Thanks for that, I'll look into that :)

Why not look at a med Cruise, you will then tick off the cruise, Venice and Rome in one swoop.

That's a good idea. We live close to Southampton, so that might be a good plan.

Luckily my OH has been to Venice and Rome before, so he knows his way around. Although I get what you mean about fitting everything in, especially in Rome.
