It's good marketing. I wouldn't read too much into it. Paddy Power started it as a way of getting newspaper coverage.

ISTR that they paid out on Newcastle in the 'I'd luv it, just luv it' season.

I thought good publicity too. There'll be accusations of the 'Westminster Elite' dropping money into the markets to give the impression of a close fought campaign.

How else could you explain the gap between the polls and the betting? The streets are full of flag waving nationalists and there's not a no voter to be seen - I'm surprised :)

Not sure, but Betfred paid out on Man U winning in 1998 when they were 11 points clear in March - only to be pipped by the Arsenal.

    A possible explanation...
Why so few “no thanks” posters or union flags? “Because we don’t want our windows smashed or tyres slashed,” some no voters reply.

    Britain in 2014. :(
The separatist genie has been let out of the bottle and it will be hard if not impossible to put it back in again.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Can't wait til this is all over.
I have heard the word 'scaremonger' enough to last 12 lifetimes.

It's like the phrase 'legal tender'. Only used when trying to spend our banknotes down south,

  • Now my other thread has (again) been doomed (doomed!) to discussion time, let this be the official Scottish Independence thread until Thursday.

It is, in a sense, only fitting that it belongs to Hamish.
