Apart from sterlings very brief reign as a petro currency in 1980/81, the punt changed relatively little against sterling for years, trading roughly 5% either side of say 1.1 punts to the £.

It obviously fell (and was more volatile) against the likes of DEM or CHF but then so did Sterling

I'm not sure why this should be much of a surprise.

Now I may have missed something here, but isn't the potential for a Yes vote a very good reason NOT to rush banknotes North?

As long as people can get their money out of British banks in the rest of Britain then surely Scots banks can be the SNP's problem for once?
