Yes - except that we can now say we all need to work together to make all of the UK stronger....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I agree. There is no rUK for the next few decades, just the UK and the nations and counties that sit within it.0 -

Nope. I'm absolutely talking about your posts, this morning, your time.
You're sulking. I can't say I blame you. In you position I'd take a day off from posting. Get some perspective and perhaps some sunlight.
There is beautiful countryside in all parts of the UK. Go and enjoy some and lets bother with all this tomorrow.
I'd be pretty miffed if Yes had trounced No and would probably be feeling a bit grumpy. Fortunately for me they didn't.
Oh well.0 -

Generalie, I've said about 4 times now I don;t have the hump, have accepted the decision and am looking forward as we are.
Your clearly trying to be a Wind Up Merchant which you detest.
Please show where you perceive I have the hump so we can maybe clear this up.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

Yes. I am enjoying it enormously.0 -
no, you voted for independence : Barnett wasn't on the ballot paper.
so my question remains, given independence has been rejected by the people of Scotland, do you think the Barnett formula is unfair to the people of the UK and should be reformed.
If Independence had been achieved, would there have been a Barnett formula?
I voted for taking control of our own destiny, our own revenue, our own expenditure and not rely on getting money back from a centralised government after it had been paid in , in the first place.
Some on here are talking about Devo Max, which incidentally, I don't see is being offered, which would surely also do away with the Barnett formula.
Your trying to get a response from a single person in the electorate, who has no inroads into any of the parties, let alone the PM and leading party leaders who have pledged to keep it.
If you are against it, I suggest you use your democratic right to campaign against the main parties.:wall:

On a discussion forum one can only every get a single view from a single person:
a simple question: do you think the Barnett formula is fair or in need of reform?
You don't have to agree with the vile Westminster parasites.
But maybe old habits die hard and you don't feel you can express an opinion until uncle alex pronounces on the matter so his groupies know what to say.

We can do that later. What we need to do now is to ridicule the cybernats relentlessly and without mercy.
I'd like to say its for their own good. To help them grow as people. But really it's just because they have browned me off so comprehensively over the last two years with their egregious, pompous and infuriatingly smug certainty they were right, that it would be a monstrous abrogation of my human duties not to stick the boot in now they are down.
I will enjoy seeing the smirks even more fully wiped from their stupid grudge filled faces when Boris Johnson doesnt become pm, labour win the next election, and Ukip don't take over England and turn it into a fascist state.
They are like the forum hpc.co.uk on a massive scale. Constantly running everything down and looking down their noses at people. I utterly hate them and couldn't be more pleased that they have been handed their own backsides on a glittering plate.0 -
Who would have thought just 24 hours ago the margin would be so big? Not me - it wasn't until the Yougov chap effectively promised to eat his hat at 10:30pm if yes won that I decided not to do an all nighter.
Lots of us, in truth.
Theres a poll in DT discussing this very thing, with most of us, myself including, suggesting the margin would be about where it was.

If Independence was negotiated, and the SNP got what they wanted ( a currency union) there would have had to be a Barnett formula or something very similar to it. A currency union can't work without transfer payments.IveSeenTheLight wrote: »I voted for taking control of our own destiny, our own revenue, our own expenditure and not rely on getting money back from a centralised government after it had been paid in , in the first place.
That's possibly why the SNP lost; if they'd given that as the objective rather than a currency union with Britain (meaning, England would control your borrowing, your monetary policy, your government spending and your banks) and membership of the EU (meaning the EU controls practically everything else) they'd have had a better chance.
"The same degree of independence but less representation" was not what the Scottish people wanted. Maybe they actually wanted independence. We'll never know.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
