Theres a poll in DT discussing this very thing, with most of us, myself including, suggesting the margin would be about where it was.

When you say lots of us do you mean 11% as per the results of that poll
So the answer to my question 'who would have thought the margin would be so big just 24 hours ago?' based on your poll should really be not many rather than lots of us actually.
You're wrong. Your 'evidence' shows the opposite.
In the real world, outside of internet forums, Facebook likes and the Twattershere, if every man and his dog expected a 10% gap then the betting markets wouldn't have jolted at 10:20pm last night when the Yougov poll came out and the statistician put his reputation on a no win.0 -
That's possibly why the SNP lost; if they'd given that as the objective rather than a currency union with Britain (meaning, England would control your borrowing, your monetary policy, your government spending and your banks) and membership of the EU (meaning the EU controls practically everything else) they'd have had a better chance.
Instead of avoiding economic questions like the currency issue they should have just said 'we'll have our own currency, there will be uncertainty but, be brave, here's a chance to be in complete charge of our destiny for the first time in three centuries'.
They bottled it.0 -

Thank you David Dimbleby for that stunning insight.0 -

I was surprised when I read it, and it was a bit unexpected, as he said he would see out his term if there was a No vote.
http://www.scotsman.com/news/politics/top-stories/alex-salmond-to-stand-down-as-first-minister-1-3547344He said that the political “focus to take Scotland forward” has shifted.
“In these circumstances, you should judge whether the party, Parliament, country would benefit from new leadership,” he said.
“I think this is a time of great opportunity and I had to make a judgement as to whether I’m best placed to take that opportunity forward.
