Something has changed, it will be in a different brochure from May 2015. Why that's concerning to you I have no idea, it will be long after your holiday has finished.
Exactly, so why are they telling me about something that won't affect me?
They're not writing to tell me about changes to hotels in Italy?
What if... God forbid.. You're wrong?
It's a good job you're here to keep me up to speed with developments at a hotel you've never been to/heard of.0 -
Wrong about what? As I said, if you can determine that there's been a relevant change to your holiday then the situation may be different. As it stands, however, there isn't a lick of evidence that this is the case.0

Given that neither you or I are in resort or privvy to any internal discussions at Thomsons, then it must surely be wrong for everyone to continually come on here telling me what is and isn't 'fact'. When it is. As I've said, their best guess.
I'm fully aware that this entire thread.... In the absence of someone with exactly the same experience... Is just fluff.... An amusing aside!
The only thing that matters is my personal interaction with Thomson and how they view my claim.0 -

Of course, I highly doubt anyone disagrees with that. It doesn't change that the only fact that we know is that the property you have booked will be moved to a different brochure 5 months after you've travelled. In other words, not a lick of evidence that there's been any kind of relevant change to your holiday or that you should be entitled to cancel. If new facts come to light then the situation can obviously change.0 -

Well I can see why you would be aggrieved and agree with Voyager2002 in post 20.
Thomson describe Platinum as 'stylish 4T and 5T hotels'. A la Carte, they say, 'showcase our most luxurious hotels. Everything about these 4 and 5-star properties is first-class – the decor, the cuisine, the service'.
I would want Thomson to explain what now doesn't fulfill the first-class criteria for A la Carte. Is it the decor, the cuisine or the service that has fallen below the expected standards?
So I would keep on at Thomson, but also agree with those that say don't let it spoil your holiday and I'm sure it will still be wonderful.0 -

It'snot going into the 'platinum' collection, it's going into the new 'platinum lifestyle' collectionIt’s nice to spoil yourself sometimes. An indulgent spa treatment here, a room upgrade there… And that’s where our brand new Platinum Lifestyle range comes in. This collection showcases hotels with that little something extra, from sleek spas to design-led interiors. Not only that, but the properties are a big hit with customers, too. In order to get a place in the Platinum Lifestyle collection, they have to score at least 4.5 out of 5 on TripAdvisor, so you don’t just have to take our word for it.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
