The link you posted is for an Auris...
As for the hybrids, I pretty sure the only 2 things that are swaying you towards them are its MPG and £0 road tax,. You must assess your annual mileage and whether the savings surpass the initial premium you pay for the hybrid and how many years would it be before you actually start saving.
If not, just for for the 1.6 petrol Auris. Cheaper to buy and service than the hybrid, which I suspect can only be serviced at the dealer.0 -
oops.
here is the correct one.

My annual mileage will be 5 - 8k. Not more than that. We only commute 10-12 miles a day.

Based on my calculations (around 7k/year with fuel prices at 1.28/litre) and including road tax you will save £500/year with the hybrid. Assuming a £2k premium you initially pay for the hybrid it take 4 years to break even. This is discounting any potential costs that arise with the batteries etc, which I heard can be very expensive to replace.
As for that BMW, like I suspected it's pretty much the lowest entry 3 series. Heavy car, and the 2 litre petrol combined than an auto, I suspect will be quite slow and relatively heavy on fuel (expect 30 mpg). Add to the fact that it is a base model so you don't get leather seats, heated seats, BMW i-Drive or any f the bells and whistles etc etc. Completely negates the entire point of an upper market car IMO.
But whatever floats your boat, if the badge makes you happy go for it!0 -
It not the badge , its the comfort for me. I love driving BMW. Its a great comfort. Which BMW you say will be better choice?0

Yes, their near perfect 50/50 balance would feel more natural than other FWD cars.
Although I still think that even the Auris Hybrid, which has the same amount of interior gadgets than that BMW you suggested, would also be quite comfortable, although probably not as comfortable as the BMW over longer journeys, although I could be wrong.
Seeing as you only do 10-12 miles a day, I don't think the comfort factor really comes into play.
You came from a BMW 525i, so if driving is more important to you go for that BMW. Really it comes down to your budget and whether you are willing to pay the premium for a car that feels a little better when driving. If you don't mind, go for the Auris. Why don't you just test drive both cars and decide accordingly?
I cannot say which BMW is the better choice for you. Personally, I would go for a BMW with a more powerful engine and more interior luxuries but that doesn't mean everyone else wants that as everyone has different priorities.0 -
One more question OP, are you purchasing the car on finance or cash outright?0
