Would you go on holiday without your children

I'm still uncomfortable with the idea of leaving the kids with granny while mum and dad swan off to the med though.
That's what I did this summer and my kids had a wonderful time with their grandmother. They only see her once or twice a year at best, and they get tons of attention from her when they see her. Most of her time is dedicated to them and they love it. They don't get that much attention at home! My mum is still quite active and was able to take them to fun activities and participate with them. They see me everyday of the year, so it is nice they actually get to spend some time with her once a year, she is their family too!0 -
Why would they suddenly not want to come with you?
Because once they grow up they want to go on holiday with their friends/girlfriends/boyfriends, they don't still want to be going on holiday with their parents.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

I just don't like it when they are not with me, but have never restricted what they do, and I keep my tears and anxieties to myself, or share with my husband out of their earshot!
They have been on many camps, residentials and foreign trips with school I've not ever given them anxieties about how I would feel. Having a 17 year old who is already talking about uni, I encourage her all the way, I would not stop her, but it's ok to miss your child!!
Now I *did* shed a tear at the school gate when my son went off to the IOW at the end of year 6 but we'd just moved house and he'd only known the other kids 2 weeks :rotfl:
He camped at his first festival this year and I was worried sick but, like you, kept it to myself. We'd been to see The Inbetweeners movie a couple of weeks before and that kind of nailed home the fact that a rape alarm might be going a bit too far and curbed the worst of my worried mother tendencies
That, to me, is what being a good parent is about. Of course you worry about them and miss them but your give them a shove off into the world regardless.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
