late period

my oh and i are desperate for a baby and have been trying for 8 months

we are waiting for our appt at fertility clinic (i am 36 so got a quicker referral)

we have had routine tests no issues

i am now 6 days late but still getting period stomach cramps (quite mild) and have been for 8 days.

i dont want to do a pregnancy test as i will be devastated if its negative.

i presumed that the cramps meant i couldnt be pregnant but sites say this can sometimes happen.

i dont feel sick or any of the other symptoms associated (are these always present?)

any advice would be so gratefully received.

Nic

Pop down to poundland, buy a test for a pound, and stop worrying about it- why delay possible good news??

If you're not pg, then worrying about it will make your period even later, and when your period does start you will know anyway- so find out now.

    Best of luck!

ps Yes, you can get funny cramps across the bottom of your abdomen, and no,morning sickness isn't 100% guaranteed, although it is very common.hth

    (((((hugs)))))

    Take the test kitty :)

It's not going to change the fact that you're pregnant or not. Remember though that at an early stage a negative doesn't mean you're definitely not pregnant, just that there aren't enough hormones to register yet.

I bled quite regularly through my last two pregnancies DS1(12) and DD2(10) so cramps don't necessarily mean you're not pregnant.

Wishing you all the luck in the world for the result that you want. :kisses3:

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
  • I had these cramps the day before my test day. (We had IVF). I was convinced it was my period, but I had no sign of it. I was pregnant and had these period like cramps for the first few weeks of my pregnancy. Its apparently because your uterus is stretching.

I didnt get any other symptoms until I was approx 6 weeks pregnant. Do the test! You need to find out one way or the other!

    Good luck!

I also had these cramps and kept putting the test off, was gobsmacked to be pregnant as the pains felt like period pains. It's better to know than sit and wonder. Go on take the test, it will at least put your mind at rest.

Yes, cramps are very common in the early days. Both times I fell pregnant I was convinced that my peroid was on its way so I delayed doing a test. Not everyone gets morning sickness and if they do get it, it doesn't always kick in straight away. Mine started when I was 7 weeks (3 weeks late). The first sign I found was extreme tiredness, I kept having to nap in the day but didn't put two and two together immediately. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you - good luck.

I too had cramping and indeed a small amount of bleeding (which I later found out was due to implantation and relatively common) and I'm due in Sept.

Do the test - not doing it won't change the result and will stop the torture...I certainly couldn't have waited until I was 6 days late :o

    Very best of luck xxx

I agree with all thats been said so far. I too had the same symptoms. Please do it today and stop the suspense for us all. I truly hope you get the result you are so desperately wanting.
