Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 19th July 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone.
Woke up early today. I have been really busy and so rather than sleep I think my mind is racing all the time. Lots of overtime at work and other pre planned events means I am out of favour with my OH.
I had a great night last night fulfilling a dream of sorts. I managed to get a trip out on the Padstow lifeboat. Down the ramp splashy thing and then off around the bay while the crew practised their rescue drills. Fantastic fun. Would love to volunteer myself, but I live too far away from any station for call out. Work shortly followed by a school governors meeting. Then I have to get all my kit ready for fishing tomorrow. I think you can see now why the OH is getting a little unhappy. I have the weekend off though..... Anyway have a nice day to all who follow

Morning NEA9VE - (sp?) and all who follow!
I didn’t manage to get back on here yesterday – every time I tried, MSE just froze on me! But, goodness, I’ve just read through it and what a busy day it was!
HEAVENLEIGH – Congratulations – I know you’re feeling a bit bewildered at the moment but you didn’t get pregnant on your own, did you?! I’d be inclined to do what was suggested yesterday and leave telling the family until you’ve got use to the idea first. Friends of mine had a ‘surprise’ son three years ago when their daughters were teenagers and, after the initial shock, they realised that it was meant to be and they say he has bought such joy and laughter into the family – they can’t imagine life without him and the daughters are very unlikely to find themselves pregnant by accident – they know exactly what a new baby entails!
NATZINI – one of my sisters has fibromyalgia; she gets very frustrated because some doctors don’t take it seriously but she has found brilliant advice on American websites – they take it seriously there. She moved to a different area about three years ago and her new doctor does all he can for her. She recently started doing an art course at the college (she used to have her own craft and gift shop but the illness forced her to give it up – just when it was taking off, too) but the college have been great. They keep her desk and easel set up all the time so she doesn’t have to do it herself and they’ve found her a ‘buddie’ who fetches and carries for her and she is so positive about things now. She has to use a motorised scooter most of the time and that was the hardest thing to get used to but she’s definitely not letting it hold her back. It’s a horrible condition and I’ll be glad when it’s taken more seriously in the UK.
DLB – many congratulations on sorting out that debt. Well done!
TAPLADY and POOKY – I hope today is less dramatic for both of you!
PENPIN – have a great trip and I hope it helps you to feel better.
LYNZPOWER – hope you can get that pain sorted out.
I have been up since 4.30 but I don’t really mind because I don’t feel tired (at the moment!) so I have enjoyed mooching around on the thread, have paid a few bills online, checked my Christmas stash (yes, I know it’s only July but I found a few more bargains yesterday when I was shopping!) and I feel as though I have achieved quite a lot already and it’s only 5.30!
I had my first visit to Curves yesterday and I am really impressed. I had a ‘figure analysis’ and was shown the equipment and decided to join up there and then. It costs £59 for the one-off joining fee and then it will be £29 a month (starting in September so it’s free until then – special offer!). I have to go in at 10.30 today to be shown how to use all the equipment and then I can go in as and when I like. They recommend three 30 minute sessions a week which I know I can manage and it’s only five minutes away so really convenient, too. My DIL is going to join as well – I phoned her last night and told her all about it and she’s really keen – it’s even closer for her. I’m feeling really positive about it and can’t wait to get there, although I know I’ll be aching later on!
Why are my posts so long? I just get carried away.
Has anyone heard from QUEENIE? She sounded so down the other day – it’s not like her – she can always make me feel more positive about things. I do hope she’s OK.
Well, I’m going to have a shower so I’ll see you all later.

Good Morning all! Have been frantically busy this week, so no time on here - feeling I need to catch up on where everyone is asap! Anyway, today's the day - term ends at 3.15pm!!!! After that......I'm aiming at the equivalent of two weeks away and will probably be at school two or three times on each of the other weeks, but I can get hopefully deal with all the paperwork that's been building up with no interruptions! May even start a thread to keep myself on track as, as usual, I have dozens of things I want to get done this summer...and sometimes very little actually happens! I love the sound of the lifeboat trip, N9eav - sounds fabulous! I do miss the sea! (Was brought up in Weymouth, and still miss it.)
Hope everyone has a great day today. I'll catch up tomorrow!Resolution:

Good Morning all
Blue skies here today, not sure how long for though.
Hugs to Netzini, my mum was a teacher many years ago & I wrongly assumed that teachers were only human, now I work in a school I've been amazed how many of them will go to great lengths to help their pupils & put in extra hours. Of course there are good & bad in every school, but I've been more amazed at the parents, who often make the most outragous demands. My current favourite is the parent who wants to sue the school for the injury his daughter sustained stealing a box of paper from my room, it seems she twisted her back when she heard me coming back into the print room!
Hope everyone has a good day
Hugs Hester

Morning All
Planning on having a better day today. The break up hit home yesterday and I fell apart a bit. Also had to see estranged/ex bf to sort a couple of things. He acted like nothing had happened and he hadn't told anyone, so it was down to me to do the deed. Still at least everyone knows he dumped me.
So today is the start of my new life as a singleton again.
HeavenLeigh Congrats on the news of the bub on the way. Don't worry about what your family will think. It's your life.
Really can't be bothered to work, which isn't good. But no boss in today:T
Must get petrol later - have 5p off a litre at Tesco, so that will help
Also started to re-read the money diet. Time to take control again and get back to being the real me
Hope everyone's okComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Good morning all!
Is summer here? That's 4 days now started with sunshine. Ok there were 2 showers on Tuesday, but it's still looking a bit optimistic. Anyway, the washing will go out in a minute or so.
This morning DS has his last piano lesson. He never bothers to do any practice, although says he loves the lessons. We have decided that he will take a break from lessons over the summer & make a decision as to whether he really wants to continue, as it is a lot of money to pay out if he can't be bothered to do any practice in between, which we and piano teacher feel he would do if he was really keen. Anyway, todays is the last lesson we have paid for (pay for 6 in advance & get 7th free) so he will have to make a decision as to what to do at the end of September.
Then I have work - I only do 4 hours a week, so not too onerous.
I wonder what's for dinner today? Hmmmm.... will have to get thinking on that one.
((((hugs)))) to all
Have a good day!0 -
Morning everyone
Well, it's not raining for a change :T :T :T so will have to find something to wash - I can't have sunshine and no washing on the line ..... change that thought, just seen the weather forecast
N9eav, are you sure you go to work sometimes, your life seems to consist of having fun and fishing
Going to make carrot soup and hm bread for lunch, and chilli for dinner, and need to find some things to list on Ebay. I was going to go and weed at the allotment, but think I am wasting my time and fighting a loosing battle.
Have a good day everyone xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever
