MrB,
I wish to applaud you on your stand against the unions and the people who are in it and it is disgusting that people can get away with poisoning tea just because they do not agree with what the unions want. As I said before, they throw their toys out and stamp their feet when they do not get their own way - the same as my 4 year old daughter does. The strikes are not working, the RM do not really care and as long as the post is getting through of course they are not going to care. I did find it funny to see that are not getting their own way so now they work to rule rather than not going out to work at all. This is what I said in my post a few back - all they are showing is that life goes on without them all not working, albeit slower, plus they can use the money they pay 40,000 posties to get new machinery to speed up the work to help the others who remained. It is a shame that you feel you have to change your job but if you are not happy this is the only way. Maybe you should go to TNT or something - apparently they get the better jobs so Leachy was moaning about last night.
The thing is in all of this, out of those 40,000 there are probably 35,000 who do not agree with it and follow behind like sheep because they are scared of the reperccusions of going into work. In my opinio they are pretty damn selfish - I know what you get paid if you go out on strike and it is nowhere near a few hours wage let alone a days wage. People have bills to pay and they won't be able to afford to do it forever.
Good for you for standing your ground and being honest with us. You'll get so much more respect from us for it and stuff what your co-workers (sheep - baa) think about it! Just make sure you take a flask of coffee and packed lunch with you!! Just in case!!0 -
I was very interested to read MrB's comment about the unions because a friend of me works in the health service and suddenly is being told that her job - she was specifically recruited to work nights as were her shift colleagues - is to be changed to include day shifts and instability so they never know where they are.
This is really serious for most of them because they have kids etc and do nights so they and other half can cope, cover for each other, and bring in the money.
The union is apparently doing **** all to assist. They sit in on the meetings and make noises but do nothing constructive.
In this particular case changing it means more costs for the health service because they will pay night rate for a period of time (some months) while she is doing days and this is because some manager got a bee in the bonnet!
I saw a note that adam crozier earned a salary of £1 million last year, and I really take issue with that. He may have been paid that amount but for sure he did not earn it. He is destroying the royal mail service.
Does anyone know of an alternative for small items (packets either 310 or 600 gms) with an unpredictable quantity -sometimes 4 a day sometimes 10 that would be worth investigating?0 -
 I'm still waiting for a special delivery sent to me on Tuesday 31st!!! It is vital to our business and the implications are far-reaching. Considering such as securemail.co.uk in future, can anyone say how they are?
Meanwhile, a nightmare, thank you very much after the £££££'s I've spent with Royal Mail!
I understand that the guarantee still applied on Mon/Tues and poss Wed of this week. So we can claim back postage, can't claim back the customers and business we have lost!!!0 -
In the last week I have spent around £350 in postage costs for this **** service. Yes, i have to use Royal Mail unless someone else knows somewhere that takes the small packets - remember though, we have to pass the postage costs onto our customers. Yeah it has it's ups and downs but it is the workers on strike that are destroying the Royal Mail in my opinion. I am sure he does not deserve his money but that is life. In my last job my boss paid himself a fat 150k bonus for the work he was giving me to do, he used to pass me the paperwork and I used to have to do it, that was on top of his wage that was 10 times more than mine. When I left to go on Maternity Leave he put my money up on the last day as he could not get anyone else to do the job for the money he was paying me. That was the final slap in the face. I know because I had to do the wages as well. It is deflating but that's life, he is in charge so he can get paid whatever he likes I guess - no I did not think my bozz was worth it either but he is the boss. it did not stop me turning up to work everyday, on time and demanding more money and the like. The only thing they are doing is proving that the business can run (albeit slowly) without them. There are a lot of other people waiting to come take their jobs - especially those from the Eastern European countries - and they'll not be demanding more money and conditions, they'll get on with it as they only earn £1.50 an hour in their own country. Minimum wage will be good money for them and I am sure that the posties are not on minimum wage!!0

Not impressed with Royal Mail.
If you not happy with them, don't use them, simple really. There are a lot of other people waiting to come take their jobs - especially those from the Eastern European countries - and they'll not be demanding more money and conditions, they'll get on with it as they only earn £1.50 an hour in their own country. Minimum wage will be good money for them and I am sure that the posties are not on minimum wage!!
Thats right Watford Mail Centre has a load of polish workers, must be great they can't speak, read or write english. If thats what you want, god knows where ya mail will end up.Debt Free Wannabee - Updated 13/08/2007
Barclaycard - [strike]£3002[/strike] now £1712 Mortgage - £84,393 - Paid in 340 months time.0 -
Apparently this is justified because they don't want any competition so have decided not to do hardly any work until they get their own way - see post #35 from Leachy!! I bet you wish you had a job like that!!
To all RM are forcing later starts at all Mail Centres from the 13th August, so your postie will be starting an hour later, guess what your mail will be later. There is only one person to blame and its not your postie, allan.leighton@royalmail.com write to him.Debt Free Wannabee - Updated 13/08/2007

hello again having a good laugh at what your saying blue monkey on a few other places, and a few others ps blue monkey why have you not got a pension you can get one yourself ! and not rely on an a employer, no wonder you work for yourself!!
I wouldn't want to empoly you from your responses about other people you sound like a victorian school teacher!
Any way I'm sure I'm not going to be on your buddy list now.If you like the polish so much move to poland !
They are a very hard working people and should not be exploited like you would want to do to them they deserve a fair wage to live on in this country not the minimum wage as you say!!! how unfair to say that!
Did you know that these companies that are cherry picking work from RMail pay absloute minimum wage so the empoyees make up their wages through family tax credits etc so in the long run YOU and I are paying for the companies that are not paying does'nt take much savvy doe's it !!!! Just think If the company paid decent wages your tax bill would be less and you could put it towards that pension you haven't got! Ta Ta for now.0 -
If they screw up Highers and A Level results then they are going to have a lot more grief on their handsNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Because Royal Mail took a pension break ie did not pay anything into the pension from 1991 to 2005 while the workers paid into it that is why it is short plus it's not 6bn nearer 3 bn.It's near enough impossible to finance a similar pension to a final salary pension by yourself. Why do you think the royal mail pension scheme is something like £6bn short?0
