Sorry but just wanted to ask a question about mail and hope you don't mind me asking it here.
I have had a parcel sent to me on the 31st by recorded delivery. When should this now arrive as i'm not sure it this will be held up as well.
Thanks Nicky
Recorded is just standard post so can easily take up to a week even without a strike. As it comes in standard post, and unless it is very heavy, the postman will just add it to his normal walk, so you may have to wait a few extra days.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. We had no post last Sat (28th), Mon (30th) or yesterday.
I see that one of the future delivery strike days will be Thurs 17th - coincidentally the day when A level and AS level results come out - so people who have results posted on, or who are waiting for university clearing stuff, will be inconvenienced (to put it mildly).
Our post is very irregular - some days here after 4pm - and I am self-employed. Because of the strikes at the end of July I had to use other methods to deliver time-critical items - but at least they are more reliable so RM will be losing a lot of my business - even though the alternatives are a bit dearer.0 -
The all-out national strikes for next week are now Tuesday, Wednesday AND Friday.0

Hope posties don't expect a tip at Christmas...0 -
My postie is always late - the last one used to come around 2pm because he went off to a quiet part of the village fo a sleep. I've seen him many a time. Getting post at 10am warrants a tip - other relief posties can do so why can't they - 2pm delivery gets nothing. Now we seem to have one of 3 or 4 posties, some early some late. however, the postie who refused to get my Harry Potter from his van when just starting his round at 9.15 because 'he had too many' now doesn't do this round at all. he has knocked at my door at 1.30 with a special guarenteed by 1pm and never even apologise for getting here late. All the posties we get don't care about their rounds and customers like they used to. You never even get so much as a good morning.0

As a Postie and a CWU member, I can tell you now that I have began to look for another job. The strikes are ineffective, if anything they have proven that Royal Mail can lose the 40 000 jobs, as the mail is getting delivered(Okay, slowly), so NOW the directive is to work to rule, oh but you can still do overtime. What a load of cr*p. As far as I'm concerned the whole lot of them deserve themselves. At a union meeting, I had never heard so much back stabbing and foul behaviour before. I only joined because I believed the changing hours would be one of the worst things that RM could do to the business, but they can now shove their strikes where the sun dont shine. I will be in work on the 11th regardless to the name calling and harrassment (One so called 'scab' had his tea poisoned in our office this week)So beware of the 13th of this month, this is the proposed change in working hours, so if you thought your post was late before..............I'm back after a break :money:0

For those of you who send larger items... Payperdrop on ebay are a great courier... they are the cheapest around and do great international postage too!
here is a good example of a UK one, it costs £5.99 for any parcel up to 31.5kg, and they will collect the item from yur house and post it for you... recommended!
