He should get in touch with Channel 4, this adventure would make great TV.0 -
3G mustn't be that good at Aberdeen airport or we'd have had the "Transferred money but no car" thread started by now surely?0
-
I think we should check the PePiPoo and the fines section, given the number of cameras on the A90 and the number of horses under his bonnet! Please update us OP!0

Comedy Gold this thread - and the linked insurance thread.0

He has been signed in but never posted, curious.0

He'll have spent all day on the motorway in a sporty (read:uncomfortable) car, he'll probably need a while to recover.0
-
As far as I can see, he has been online at least 3 times since he should have got the car home.
I wonder if he is too scared to admit it was all a hoax.0 -
Cummon OP, please update us! - we all like cars, so if its a good 'un, tell us, if you didn't get the car, this is MSE, so tell us you did not spend money on a car, etc! All outcomes are a win! Or at least tell us how the drive down was! - it is some bits of the M6 that I find mind numbingly boring, how did they go?0

HERE IT IS! :P
Picked her up on Monday! It was a nervous start to the day as I arrived at bham airport and half 4 in the morning, it has been years sinced I catched a plane, my ticket didn't have a gateway number on so was panicking when it came to the time to board my flight as i didn't know which gate to go in, it didn't help with a packed airport and no staff about!
Arrived in aberdeen for half 15 minutes earlier and 8:15, waitied half hour for the owner to pick me up, straight to the bank to sort it payment, was in there for half hour trying to sort it out!
Next hour was spent going through the car's history, paperwork receipts and so on.
Said our goodbyes, and off we went in difference directions, 12:00 before i set off, filled her to the brim, and headed down the motorway, for the first hour or so it was a nice easy straight drive going through perth.
I was a bit worried that the sat nav was taking me somewhere else, i went on the m or a74, m8, then then m6 which i was glad to see the sign which confirmed i was on the right track and nearly home!
In all honestly, the drive was absoloute cheesecake, I sat in the first lane for about 50 miles, one so i could get my confidence in the new car and two, to save on petol costs as it is a 3.2L beast!
As the journey countinued, I grew in confidence and I started to move out onto the fast lane, then move back in to the first lane and so on.
Traffic was free flowing, I drove for around 300 miles before stopping and at the same time I needed to refil, as the fuel light came back on, I was packing a bit as the dashboard when counting down in miles, I don't know if it meant how miles left until the next junction (i believe it's roughly 40 miles remaining once the yellow fuel light comes on) but as I carried on, it kept going down and was panicking that I would run out on the motorway, anyway go to a service station when it showed 0.4 miles left?? ? (see above confusion) and boy was a glad to see a petrol station, I also was in serve cramp for driving over 300 miles without stopping! So I stopped off for half hour and continued my journey home.
Oh and in regards to insurance, I was originally going to insure it for 14 days, then cancel it as it was way to high for the year (as mentioned in the opening post) but I went directly on an insurer website directly which was either giving me crazy insurance prices or didn't show up on every comparison website and to my suprise, it has cost me £2442 for the year, or over 4 and half grand (£430+) month (440 depsoit for the year) (the 3 named drivers on the policy helped!) I am the main driver.
Very relived as it was going to be uninsured once I got back until december (when I reached 21 years of age and insurance prices are more reasonable)
So have paid that off for the year. It sure does pay to go on a insurers website directly!!!!
Anyway that's the story for those that wanted to hear, now I've just got to work hard and clear off this loan asap!
Take care!0 -

Eh? It's cost you £2442 but over 4.5K? You what?
Anyhoo, to be frank you must be insane paying £400+ a month for insurance. That's complete idiocy in my book, but whatever floats your boat I guess.
How long did the drive take you in the end?
Oh, and isn't that number plate a little small? You're going to be a magnet for coppers anyway as a young lad driving an R32, so don't make it worse with illegally spaced/sized plates which will draw even more attention. Just a tip.0
