  • Economic prudence does not appear to be the OP's forte though does it? ;)

I doesn't does it, but hey, I'm sure we were all young and foolish once and made expensive mistakes on shiny things.

At least he has realised the reality doesn't live up to the dream and is cutting his losses now before things spiral even more out of control. ;)
  • Should've just leased a Golf R like everyone else.

Absolutely correct - generally the further north the higher the price of used cars - not the other way round.

I always assumed it was the other way round, with the likes of Aberdeen being an exception, but maybe that's more a factor on cheap cars where there's much more demand for much less supply.

Paid 12,000, roughly 1k or just under on fuel, 550 for 4 lamba sensor changes including labour and diagnostics. £600 so far in insurance. Say £2,000 spent on the car.

Spending another £100 on putting stock suspension on. = £2100 or slightly under in expenditure.

Just picked up £1550 cash for the recaro wingback sports seats in exhange for the standard r32 oem seats and the aftermarket lights for the standard ones.

Getting £700 for the aftermarket coilovers.

Just got £150 for the miltek exahaust plus got the standard one in exhange.

Friend owes me another £350 for some other parts that I didn't put on the car. (I sold him some parts for £1700, that I paid NOTHING FOR)

So say I spent £600 on the car so far...

What I have/will get for the sale of ALL the parts: = £2750

So £2750, plus £12,000 for the sale of the car, plus the £3k numberplate. I will get £17,750 or just under hopefully.

Then I'll take say £2,750 to buy myself another car and pay for the insurance. Not too bad is it. Leaving me with £15,000 in my pocket.

Also you haven't sold the car or plate yet and it's not really car buying season at the moment, so you may have a couple more months of tax, fuel, insurance and repairs to include.

Also you may find it difficult to shift as you've owned it for such a short period, if I was a buyer I would be suspicious of it.

I don't think there's anything unusual about young drivers selling high performance cars after a few months, but you're right it doesn't look as good as if someone had owned it for years. December is a pretty lousy time for selling sporty cars too even with the 4x4 system.

Still, if you've making money returning to standard you're at a bit of an advantage
