I have not paid for it yet, just realised about the limits, what I will do is keep 10k in one account, and the rest in another bank account. Must remember to bring those banking devices otherwise I won't be able to login!!!
Faster payments can take up to 2 hours to clear, and once made you have no way of getting anything back if the car isn't 100%. Is the seller going to be happy to wait around for the money to clear and are you happy buying something you have no protection with?! Do you know how to check it over, check it's not stolen etc?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Thanks will let the buyer know, I don't know if he's bringing someone with him in another car, will ask what exactly is the plan and see if he can drive me down to the place you've mentioned.
If all goes well, after just after 8, planning to start the journey back home though around 10am though.

If you bank with Barclays, you won't need the device if you have the app, however app/device or not, there are limits, it used to be £6k and if it has gone up, it may not be £10k, and all that is assuming you have mobile service around where the car is for sale, living in Brum, we are spoiled for network choice and coverage.0 -

He says he has no issues waiting until the funds are cleared in his bank account. I don't think it will take long for the funds to reach his account tbh, most likely it will be instantly. I bank with Nationwide and Lloyds.
I am pretty confident of knowing how to checking it out, will make sure I've checked service history, receipts etc.
I am pretty confident of buying this particular car off this private individual, the car does attract a lot of scums wannabe ganagstas as it's reached a level where most people can afford to buy it, however seller does not fit this profile, spends a long time cleaning car everyweek and has looked after it well. I feel more at ease paying that kind of money to this particular seller than someone else tbh, as the car has been well looked after, tastefully modified and fully specced.
Checking it otherwise, yeah I'm pretty confident wise. Will ask for a good drive of the car to makesure everything is sound.
I might get the AA inspection thing done though I'm not to sure yet..Can I just say right now, if you are not arriving in Aberdeen airport until after 8am you will be lucky to be across the Brig O Don by 10am.
Really why is the that? Is traffic from the airport at that time dreadful?...is that not you?
Yeah sorry,0 -

I've got my phone to will use that, got 3G and unlimited data, hopefully no issues with Three on the day.
I bank with Nationwide and Lloyds, will check their sending limits now. They seem to be pretty instant when it comes to transfers, having made transfers to different banks it has arrived there instantly.0 -
This is part of my regular route south - and has been getting better/easier over the years.
The problem is that until you reach Perth, you will be on dual-carriageways which carry everyone and his dog.
Beware that strictly enforced 50mph speed limit going past Laurencekirk.
As said look out for farm traffic and folks doing U-turns.
Personally I never go via Dundee but turn off the A90 at Forfar - you'll see the MacDonalds restuarant on your left at the junction - to go on the old main road via Coupar Angus - now the A94 and rejoin the main route south at Perth taking the A9 to Stirling and Glasgow.
Changing the number was done years ago as a trick to get the Dundee to Perth section upgraded.
The old road is some 9 miles shorter - but more importantly it means that you miss out the city traffic going around the Dundee ring road with its approx 14 roundabouts.
There is a good services at Stirling.
I agree about the Carlisle Tesco at J43 on the M6.
I know this road like the back of my hand and it takes me just over 7 hours of driving time to get to Hilton Park services - and that's on a good day with light traffic and fair weather.
Where on earth did you get the idea this is a five and a half hour drive from?
To do it non-stop in that time would mean an average of 80mph - absolutely no chance of that happening is there?
Realistically this journey will take someone unfamiliar with it between 9 and 10 hours.
A good rule of thumb is that you need a half hour break every couple of hours or so - otherwise you risk fatigue, cramp etc etc.
Be aware that you will hit heavy traffic around Perth and again on the M80/M73/M74 as you pass Glasgow in the afternoon.
The A74 south to Carlisle and the M6 south from Carlisle can be very quiet compared to what you are accustomed to around Brum so beware nodding off as you're bound to be tired with having had an early start that morning.0 -

Many thanks for this. In regards to the five and a half hours, I was looking at something else on google maps for the estimated time travel.
In regards to the dual carriageway and the motorways, are they any nasty surprises to watch out for speed camera wise, like are there any ones not in real proper view if you know what I mean.
There should be signs to tell me what limit I should be travelling at so I will stick to them and not take any risks.Somebody bought a TT then
Not me....Not even an audi.
Shame I have no one to come with me tbh as it would make journey more intresting and more at ease. I don't speak out to my brother, fallen out with a freind who would be ideal for the trip.
Thinking of posting an ad on blablacar, see if anyone needs tropping back from Aberdeen to Birmingham.
Atleast then, i'll save some money and have peep(s) to talk to!0
