My word, there's certainly a lot of cat haters in this world.
Perhaps all cats should be shot, would that make everyone feel better?
Yes cat poop in your garden is not nice, but all this anger & hatred towards these little creatures is just too OTT.
I have 2 cats myself & I've told my neighbours if they ever see either of them taking a shiit on their propery to let me know & I'd be round with a bag & shovel. Up to press, they haven't.
My 2 tend to scrat on the door to come in to use the litter tray, then trot off back out. On the odd occasion I'm out, they may do it elsewhere, who knows?
I give my cats lots of love & attention so they tend to stay in our garden lazing around most of the day, or laid on our bed. They are never out during the night either. I think this is one of the reasons why they come in to use the litter tray as they feel safe in their own surroundings.
Please do not tar all cat owners with the same brush. There are ppl who get cats & boot them out all day & night and just basically let them roam & don't care about them. Then there's us who try to do our best & respect those around us, including our neighbours.
Sorry for the rant, but it just annoys me when ppl complain about cats, yet there's dog owners out there who don't even clean up after their dog has done a big dollop of shiit on the pavement outside my house. They just walk off as though their prized pet hasn't done anything.
Respect for ourselves guides our morals, respect for others guides our manners.
Unsure even a minority here tar all cat owners with the same brush. You are only the second cat owner here who has explained how you keep your cat(s) in such a way as to be encouraged not to foul anywhere else but in the litter tray provided by yourself. If only the majority of cat owners on this thread attempted to do so likewise many suffering the fouling in their gardens would be so much happier. I applaud the fact that you are a very caring responsible pet owner who has put much effort into that responsibility.

A cat repellent plant, Plectranthus ornatus sold under the names of 'Scaredy Cat' or Coleus canina, is available from some garden centres or by mail order. The foliage produces an unpleasant smell when touched. This plant can be grown out of doors in the summer, but needs frost protection in winter. As with repellent substances some animals appear to ignore the smell.
    no guarantee though...
Absolutely no guarantee whatsoever. Simply did not work. I bought 36 of them. Planted them everywhere. The cats dropped in, fouled and messed some and slept right next to others. Total waste of money.

Imagine if all the cats in the country disappeared for a year. After that time, I'll bet people would be screaming to have them back ... unpaid rodent killers. People don't have to like cats to appreciate that.
The cats around here kill birds and only birds. Plenty of feathers and dead birds. No one cat owners included has come across a dead rodent in the 15-years we've been here. Maybe 200 hundred dead birds though all counted in the immedaite area of some 30 homes.

But you would not like to have a mouse problem? Cats do keep vermin under control and, without them, there would be far more issues with rats and mice. On the flip side, there might be a snake problem instead though, as they are attracted by the mice - and adders can pack quite a bite to an adult, let alone a toddler.
Oh dear, talking no-sense again. Few cats keep vermin under control. They often kill birds just for the sake of it. Climb trees even to do so. but hunt down and kill vermin? Too few to be counted in real terms. On farms for sure but the the jack russell plays a much bigger role than the domesticated cat. Smoke and mirrors yet again.

I think I know what this is all about...condoghost is in fact a cat. He's a very territorial tom who's not happy about other cats marking his turf and has taken to the Internet to vent his fury. His rants may be slightly nonsensical but you can't blame him, he's a cat.

You actually complain about cats fouling in your garden then you say on here you actually stand there and WATCH them doing it.... !!!! Please don't do name calling, you will be removed from the site if a couple of members decided to report you for abuse.
Did I say I actually stood there and watched??? And as for "name calling", the bread is buttered as you see it. It is not "name calling" to refer "total idiots" nor is it "abuse". Is it aimed at you personally??? No it is not.

Absolutely a cat. A cat who has been well trained and caringly looked after by his owner. An owner who provides me a clean indoor litter tray and an outdoor one too. An owner who takes the time to clean up after me each and every time I use either one. An owner who takes pride in ensuring everything is done to encourage me to stay close to home and not to go fouling others gardens nearby. And I don't shout "name calling" "abuse" either when referred to as ranting slightly nonsensical.

condogost - honest to God, you need to get a life outside of this thread...
I came here looking for info on preventing neighbours cats fouling our garden. I find some advice but first have to wade my way through so much no-sense as to how it's best we just put up and shut up. I have a life outside this thread thank-you very much. I've finished going through it and off I go. Meantime some obviously only have a life inside it otherwise why be here reading it over and over again and posting this "honest to God" nonsense.
