Cats do have the right to roam0

Are you in the USA? Your spelling suggests you are?0 -

You don't have land for cats to foul??? Or you have cats that foul others land??? Tell you what, why not drop in and clear up the mess as a helping had for your neighbors??? Another red tape smoke and mirrors poster.condoghost wrote: »Sorry but it is never okay. Two three days later the cat is back fouling the garden. Chase that one away and another is there whilst the first is away. Chase the second away and the first comes back. Meantime a third drops in on the quiet. This goes around around around in a nevr ending circle. 5-years later it's still going on. One cat dies of old age. You breath a sigh of relief. A couple of days later another is there. The longset we've gone without finding the garden fould is two weeks. They must all have gone on a busmans holiday!condoghost wrote: »Love it. Sure, cats have the "right" to roam. Cats also have the "right" to foul others gardens??? And you can't put a stop to that???? Oh, and it's no good saying it's your neighbors cat coz it can't be proved one way or the other??? Interesting. "Cats have got rights" and we don't have.
Oh for goodness sake, grow up! You are just ranting now!
I think it's dreadful to keep cats trapped indoors; why on EARTH would anyone do that? They are free spirits and have the right to roam, without cruel owners trapping them in. As for the Americans doing it; so what? We are not IN America are we?!!!!! Let them stick to their weird and cruel animal abusing customs: but we care more about our animals!
I have had cats for 13 years, and have never had anybody whining about them 'fouling' anyone's garden. And for the 3 -4 decades of my life before that, (when I was not a cat owner, and never had been!) I never once noticed that anyone's cat had fouled MY garden! Ever!
And the fact is that you would not be able to see cat poo anyway, unless you're rawking through the soil. So you're full of it mate!
Find some new hobbies, instead of wasting your life whining about nothing!
I would rather have neighbours with cats than dogs ANY day! All that annoying yapping! Dogs are needy, clingy animals that tie you down. Give me cats ANY time!Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

Short of giving your garden four walls and a roof, you can't really prevent various animals from entering it as and when they please. It is simply a consequence of having outdoor space.0

That's nothing, I had a dog(greyhound) who would roll in horse / cow !!!! on walks. Cue me "guarding" horse droppings from a dog who could run at 30phm and would race back for a roll after I thought she had forgotten about it.0 -
condoghost wrote: »So, I'm wondering why this isn't a problem in quite a few other countries where they have their own open space? Living in Asia for some 15-years I never once came across fouled pavements, fouled open spaces. No dog mess no cat mess anywhere. I wonder why that is? Perhaps it is that they may well have dogs and cats but only in recent times have they been treated as "pets". And now as they keep cats and dogs as "pets", they are always small enough to carry. And few dogs if any are ever walked on a lead. Where cats are carried outside it's often in a cat cage of some sort. It's all about "responsibility" and our differences as to when it is appropriate to have a cat / dog as a pet and when it is not. You may well have a dog / cat in the house as a "pet" but you never ever for example take the dog off your property out for a walk on a lead to foul and urinate anywhere as it pleases. You never ever see cats going into others open spaces and dropping their mess there. It just doesn't happen You'd be shunned by everyone if you allowed that to happen. It's the difference between a responsiblr society across the board and a responsible society where some choose not to be.
I would totally disagreeI have lived in several countries other than the UK and experienced far worse unwanted pet mess in gardens abroad than I ever have here. I think part of the problem was that mainly the cats lived outside and therefore literally did what they wanted where they wanted; whereas here most cats do live indoors even if they roam around outside at times.
