Verified by Visa problems - anyone else?

Ok i am with hsbc & after 40 minutes of trying i did get there but had to call hsbc telephone banking to sort it. registering my card with verified by visa was not easy, the links to find the process were very hard to find on the hsbc site. I tried searching hsbc for help but nothing, it turns out you dont even need to be logged in, you have to click card support, then using your card, then verified by visa debit card link.
then you need to fill in registration. i does ask for a password given by hsbc but i didnt have one. After i called hsbc i was given a password to get through - i then registered & had to resubmit all website information again to make my payment, i was asked for my password & after typing in 3 random digits my payment was accepted. I have found this very long winded and complicated & have just made a complaint to hsbc . I dread to think how many people have not made a payment and given up due to this awful scheme. Someone needs to simplify it badly.0 -
My girlfriend is having a real problem with the santander Visa Verification password - it isn't the same as her online banking password, has contacted the bank who are less than helpful and it means she can't order anything from sites using this supposedly more secure software. So secure even she can't use it! Any advice?0

Had problems with Verified by Visa (VbV) since July 2013.
Only one site I used asked for this, and because I used them less than once a month, I was forced to re-register with a new password everytime.
After doing the rounds with Santander, Visa, and the retailer for the best part of a fortnight, Santander finally removed this feature from my card.
SORTED? NO WAY.
All new cards are issued with VbV ENABLED, and the customer has to virtually BEG to have it removed.
END OF? OH NOOOOO...
Now ASDA have put VbV on their site since I last shopped with them, and Mr Bruno Wilson of "Asda Executive Relations" has admitted that ASDA's website is "fixed" to VbV challenge ALL VISA CARDS.
NON VbV cards are thus locked out.
Does this scenario sound familiar to other MSEers on ASDA or other sites?
PS Possibly related - An ASDA employee tells me lots of Visa cards are being refused by in-store self serve tills in what sounds spookily similar. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The link for Santander cards verfiied by visa set up is this one

@hemm2 - thanks for the link, but my point is...
IF you want an extra layer of usernames and passwords, and you use them often enough that they become memorable, good for you; BUT,
IF I DON'T WANT IT, AND I DO NOT, AND MY BANK HAS SAID I DON'T HAVE TO HAVE IT, AND HAVE SAID THEY HAVE REMOVED IT, IT IS NOT THE PLACE OF A RETAILER TO TRY AND MAKE ME USE IT.
PLUS, A CARD WITH VbV REMOVED CANNOT BE REGISTERED FOR IT - OUT OF DESPERATION, I HAVE TRIED.
THERE IS A LAPTOP AND AN XBOX IN MY CART ON THE ASDA WEBSITE - NOT FOR LONG.
ASDA CAN KISS £600+ AND MY !!!! GOODBYE.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
