I have had the same problem so I have to go through the new password procedure. I try to change it by using the password that I am sure is correct anyway. but am then told I cant use it as I have used it keeps previously even though it keeps being thrown out as wrong. I seem to have this problem regularly so end up paying with my debit card in the end.

Had issues with transactions not being completed and having to call fraud dept to get them to unblock but other then that never had issues really.

Also for others authorisation != charge, funds will be reserved usually for few days and then if a actual charge doesn't take place then the funds would be restore to your balance.

I've just had both a Nationwide and a Santander Visa Debit transaction fail at the VbV section, for no apparent reason. Both were first time registrations of the card.
  • Verifiy by Visa has let me down on Christmas Day 2014 and again on 1st of January 2015 the verification process told me that all my 15 attempts to pay using the system were not accepted/unsuccessful when I checked my bank details five payments had been authorised by my bank to a company that has not provided any goods or services, the bank say it is not their fault Typical now I need to wait 14 days and if I have not received any goods/services for my money I can get it back via the bank. disgusting behaviour by the bank really making unauthorised payments without my knowledge surely this is illegal? I have emailed Verifiy By Visa and received a receipt email from them I would hope they are sorting this mess out. The verification system threw up this message on January 1st 2015 There is a technical problem with the payment server .Please try again later . Server secure.worldpay.com. 15:15:18 1st Jan 2015. but My Bank again let the payment through without the verification system checking my card details.
I would advise anyone that receives a refused payment notification online not to try again and check their bank account first to see if the bank has allowed the payment to go. I am tempted to get the police involved as this is fraudulent behaviour by my bank.
Just had the same problem paying for my holiday resulting in a £1800 overpayment due to each payment not being verified so I tried again. If its not verified why does the bank release the money.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh its driving me UP THE WALL! I have 4 cards ALL with verified at visa or the AMEX version. I have a credit and debit with santandar and a visa credit and an AMEX with Barclay card. I've had numerous problems over the last few days, now after I have put in my password and submit the connection gets reset! so the transaction doesn't go through, I've tried chrome firefox and IE and I've tried from a PC at work and my home PC they all do the same!

Perhaps a bit too late to be saying this now - but never sign up to VfV or MCS. Their sign-up procedure is inherently insecure.

Best bet is to get a card that hasn't been abused by VfV. Then, if you're forced to enrol when trying to make a purchase proceed as follows:

    Start the compulsory enrolment proc.

Enter a bogus postcode - just to check it's not a phishing pop-up

Then enter the correct postcode, DoB, or whatever they ask for these days.

Then back out of the enrolment - your purchase should go through and you won't be enrolled in this idiotic, badly designed system.

hi, I am sick of vbv, same trouble, no matter which pc I use.
I always use my ipad when ordering online, and have the same trouble.
I've re-set my password so many times, but, it won't accept it.
I didn't realise others were having aggro.Need to order something online, and keep putting it off with the hassle with vbv.read old posts, and a poster said Amex don't use it, I'm sure I've paid by Amex and VbV?? Might be old grey matter though.
  • I had the same sort of trouble last summer trying to pay for my passport. There was an impossible condition, and it took a day of telephoning to get a one of special pass to allow me to pay. The culprit is Arcot, an American company used by visa to do security checks (easier to be done by a respectable UK company I would have thought).
I have run into the same problem again, and again nothing has been done to remedy the situation. I am asked to supply a "greeting" which it is not, but a code which must include at leasr one letter and one number. I have done this, but get the same rejection and repeat.
I rang the overseas number, and was told to hold as they could not call me back. I held, with a short piece of musak constantly repeated nearly drove me mad and after a considerable time (I advised I was calling frim Spain) and I had no choice but to hang up with the matter unresolved.
I think the answer is to find cards where Arcot are not involved- I recall that it has been reported that Arcot's system is already prejudiced, and as you say you have no choice but to register. As to HSBC and it's customer care etc TOO BIG TO CARE WOULD BE A GOOD SLOGAN

its 2015 & i cant pay for my travelodge booking because verified by visa wont accept my details which are all correct. It seems i now have to login to my online banking, sign up to VBV & then create a special password..... I dont have the facilities or time to do that. Theres no telephone helpline like there used to be so im stuck. What a waste of time & counterproductive scheme cant believe its still running.

Best bet - longer term - is to cancel, or stop using, the VbV infected card, get a new card, then avoid enrolling as I outlined above.
