Have you had the same computer for 6 years or have you tried it on a different one?

It's the thread that's 6 years old, not my pc. :D

I have 3 pcs, all of which are less than 6 years old, running XP or 7. I've had the problem on all of them. My wife has encountered the same thing on her tablet and many other respondents have complained about it so I don't believe it's computer related.
At least, not the computers used by the customers. Maybe Visa's computers need an overhaul

Also I have now discovered that 3dsecure has similar problems so no point in getting a Mastercard.:(

I don't know why they don't do what American Express do with their 3dsecure (SafeKey). They send a code to you. A 6 digit code to your email address and/or phone (via) sms. You just have to enter that. To make things better it normally doesn't even ask for it, it'll just say "Transaction does not need SafeKey Authentication". So they only seem to use it on more suspicious transactions.

Verified by Visa does the same - it's been ages since I last had to enter a password. It normally just sits on the VbV page for a second or two, before going to the confirmation screen.

Are you with Lloyds or Halifax by any chance? I think they are the only ones who do that on VBV.

I have experienced it with Halifax, Nationwide and Barclaycard.

Same here, using my Nationwide Select CC.

I've found that browser add ons like NoScript can screw up VbV -now if I'm purchasing from Tesco,ASDA or even Amazon I switch it and Adblock plus off temporarily to ensure the transaction completes and doesn't hang.
  • I've always thought that the usage of VbV would depend of what website you used to pay ie its level of security, or whether it was on some sort of VbV 'safe list'. My payment refused to go through on it last night for no reason at all (error on ticketmaster). I tried one more time, thinking I possibly had my VbV password wrong. No deal. My next step was to renew my password via email, but this was refused and VbV was blocked from then on. My only option was to phone VbV to unblock, or possibly phone ticketmaster (if they dont go through VbV to purchase). I like to say no to 0870, and having read trustpilots awful reviews on TM upping prices on limited tickets, so my plan was to visit my bank on monday, hoping that they would phone up for me to unblock it so I could try again. Why should I pay for someone else's own initial error? :P

I decided to try VbV one more time today, and surprisingly my purchase went through. I now wonder now if VbV either noticed the error, if the blockage only lasts until the next day.
ps I would recommend that everyone prints out their own tickets if they use TM, judging by previous customers not too happy about its delivery service.
