Facebook and holidays

Yes, you're overreacting. Change your privacy settings so you have to approve tags.....simples!0

This is one of the reasons why I refuse to use Facebook. For goodness sake, if you're annoyed about your friend going back on her word not to reveal your holiday absence in any way, pick up the phone and jolly well TALK to her or speak to her face to face. These social media sites are encouraging people to forget how to interact with each other on a personal basis. I'm sure any face to face personal reprimand will have far more impact on her than any other social media action you can take.0

why anybody would announce on facebook that they are on holiday baffles me,there was always suspicion that airport staff were taking addresses off luggage tags and passing them on to their dodgy mates!Posting this information on facebook is akin to putting a sign in your window saying "EMPTY HOUSE".Can see the day when insurance companies start looking on these claims in the same way as car thefts when people leave the keys in the ignition ie no payout!!
I suppose that IS a problem for people who think if glorious to have hundreds of 'friends' on Facebook, some they don't even know.
My husband and I are very particular with who we approve as friends. As a matter of fact, I think I have more requests not approved than those on my list of friends! The great thing about Facebook is that you can share things with your friends in one go, not for the whole world to know your whereabouts.
We've just been on a very special holiday and posted almost every day with updates, but just about all those who would have seen them would have known we were going away before anyway.
We got burgled last year, and that was in the middle of the week, early evening whilst my OH was still at work and I'd gone shopping for less than an hour.0 -
What's wrong with sharing information with your friends via a group email? It seems to be more secure and less risky than using a social media site.0

Nothing wrong, except that Facebook does make it much easier to post pictures than to send them by email to a large number of people. This is what I used to do, but hotmail usely crashed by this stage, and it took a lot longer, which unless you have access to free wifi is going to make it much more expensive to do.0 -

Am I the only one who finds this odd? I generally wouldn't go on holiday and post on Facebook everyday.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

No.....I don't think it's 'odd' at all. I often post updates from holiday whilst lying on my sunlounger.......I quite enjoy mooching the internet whilst I'm relaxing. It certainly doesn't mean I'm not enjoying my holiday or I'm 'odd'.
Each to their own I suppose.0 -
Definately
far more entertaining for others to see travel photos and different things than the normal "I'm at work and here is my ham sandwich" type post.0 -

Depends on the holiday. Ours was one of a lifetime where we went to different places every day with very different experiences each time. Friends and family wanted to share it with us and enjoyed the updates.
I wouldn't be posting every day if the holiday consisted of staying in the same place doing the same things every day.0 -
you can be as selective as you want about who you accept as your facebook friends but do you know them well enough to trust all their friends? My bosses daughter mentioned on facebook that she was going on holiday with her parents and her ex boyfriend fished the keys for his AUDI,they got it back undamaged with just a few hundred extra miles on the clock, my boss who is a pretty easy going guy refused to press charges because he reckoned it was cleaner than when he left it!!lol0
