I don't understand. What bigger picture and why don't we care?
IPC Ltd. and BPA Ltd. are now embarked on a race to the bottom with their appeals services, with the prize being members. Either PoPLA is soon closed down and replaced with something as useless as the IPC IAS, or more large operators jump ship to the IPC. Either way, the notion of an "independent" appeals service is finished (if it ever existed) and your love-in with PoPLA will soon be over.
Don't you care about that? And what bigger picture am I missing?Je suis Charlie.0 -
Don't really care about an ADR that, if considered totally useless (and it is moving that way) just won't get used and other routes will be used to deal with the scam. On the other hand, POPLA is great at the moment but it won't last forever, I agree. There are other ways to skin a cat.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

POPLA in its current form will only last for a certain amount of time and then things will change
Of course the is more then one way to skin a cat and the are of course plenty of cats to skin.
However some people have work how to to skin a cat very well :rotfl:0 -

I still haven't the foggiest idea what you are on about. The near-consensus here on how to deal with this sh|t (which near-consensus, to be clear, I have never subscribed to) is disintegrating in the face of this latest move by the "industry", and you don't seem to be able to elucidate an answer to it.Je suis Charlie.0 -
Disintegrating? Hardly - we still win at POPLA every time, that hasn't changed so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
And as for the IAS we know we can still win some but the adjudicators - allegedly - show a questionable lack of independence, enough to make us question which way to deal with these cases. Is it worth it - maybe not. Let's just say there is a different way to deal with these and any PPC spies reading this will know what I mean in that some posters have 'addressed' the issue a different way.PRIVATE 'PCN'? PoPLA is broke. VCS ain't in it no more. Others will follow them out. If your "alternative" approach is what I think it is you will have to break cover with it sooner or later, you can't advise people in a public forum without, erm, advising them! What's more, if it's what I think it is then it ain't going to work for everyone, and it ain't going to be hugely popular. It's doubtful whether MSE will even tolerate it being advised here.
The bottom line is, unless I or someone else can think of a novel and absolutely genius technical strategy, the "industry" has proved to you the truth of the maxim "he who sups with the devil should have a long spoon". You supped with the devil, your spoon wasn't long enough.
It's time to stop hobnobbing with demons and to state, loud and clear, that bullies must be stood up to, not parleyed with.Je suis Charlie.0 -

I have no magic answer, I have not claimed such. A magic answer might come to me yet, more likely not, but if by some miracle it does, the denizens of this forum will be amongst the first to hear about it.
My current answer, though, isn't magic. My answer involves eschewing magic bullets and having the balls and energy to face up to bullies, liars and thieves. All it takes is a bit of self-respect and determination. No-one ever achieved anything in this life by being craven cowards, sooner or later you have to stand up for what is right - or submit to being a victim for the rest of your life.Je suis Charlie.0
