Christmas Hampers 2014

Afraid I can't find any photos for the life of me but last Christmas I made my other half a 'Bare Necessities' hamper. He loves the old Jungle Book movie so I bundled all the boring essentials he needs into this themed hamper. Along with a classic copy of the Jungle Book book, I added pants, shower gel, socks, deodorant, hair gel etc - the bare necessities of life! I like to get him these bits in addition to a main present but they're so dull to give individually and the theme was more manly than a pamper hamper that I'd make for a female.0

I am making a hamper for my grandparents this year, long story but haven't really known them for years so I don't really know them very well and only see them a couple of times a year so not sure of their likes dislikes. They have enough money to buy everything they need, not into home made/personalised items.
So any way back to the hamper
I am putting in the following;
Already bought;
m&s biscuits (£4 half price)
Sweets (99p b&m lemon meringue flavour hard boiled)
Coffee (Nescafe Americano coffee £2 asda)
To get;
Christmas Pasta (£3 lakeland - just a bit of fun!)
Dark chocolate covered gingers (£3 lakeland - my granddads favourite)
Unusual flavoured crisps (have seen sausage & mustard in waitrose but still looking around)
Chutneys (Wish I knew someone who made these but The English Provence are £1.90 each)
Crackers for the chutney (No idea so keeping an eye out for these)
So its just a food hamper with a few bits I know they will like and a few fun items! Nothing that will go off quickly so can eat at their leisure. Looking to spend £20ishSpreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -
Sammy J - what a great idea! I might just borrow it from you. Thanks for the suggestion.
Noodles - B&M have a set of four small jars of chutney for £2.99. Lidl have crackers in, and most supermarkets will have them as well.0 -

I found a plate, dish, sports bottle, and sandwich box in the poundshop. I'm adding a pair of fluffy socks (in case her feet are frozen!), and I'm looking round for other stuff. I managed to get a bottle of bubbles from The Works with a 'Frozen' design. Pens and pencils aren't any use, as she has special needs and uses thick, triangular shaped ones. I'm hoping to find a pad of plain paper, bracelet, or something else suitable though. She has the DVD, and her grandma has made her the dress (shop bought ones don't fit, as she is quite tall).
I'm thinking of popping it all into a hamper lined with pale blue fabric, possibly sparkly. I have plenty of cellophane, and can top it with a large blue ribbon.
the works were doing a frozen colouring book for next to nothing..

Thanks pigpen, I'll try to pop in tomorrow. She can't colour in with any accuracy, but will still enjoy the book. I might even buy a couple and cut them up to make a matching game, threading cards, or something else that would be suitable for her needs.0

Went to 99p shop and got 4 x big and 2 x 2 pk small popcorn buckets, so bring on the movie night hampers
Youngest 2 teens proclaimed that all they want is money towards festival tickets - so thinking I will base their hampers around the essential wellies needed for festivals and fill them with appropriate bits like wet wipes, dry shampoo, deoderant, socks etc and a promise note for a few quid towards the massively expensive tickets:TNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Thanks, must have missed them when I went in on Thursday. Will have a look again. Lidl is in a part of town I avoid but I'm sure they will turn up at a good price soonSpreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -
Decided to put together three little hampers.
Found these great baskets reduced to £1.12 in Morrisons that are the perfect size. Just got to find something to put the third in - that is going to be a cooking hamper, with new treats to try in the kitchen, so I think I might spend the extra and buy a decent pan to put it all in.
Sweet Hamper:
Mainly American sweets, like the Peanut Butter M&Ms, picked up when I've spotted them at decent prices. Also got a few extras in there, like the Banana Crisp Dairy Milk as he loves that.
Total spend so far: £8.77 [including the basket], RRP (going by the average cost to buy things like the Nerds over here) around £18.
Tea Hamper:
Harder to save money with this one, as the Whittard loose leaf teas he loves are very expensive. I did manage to get the tea-caddy for free though, and to save some money on the enamel mug, so that's not too bad.
Total spend so far: £15.61 [including the basket], RRP £24.45.
Cooking Hamper (work in progress):
I am picking up interesting cooking bits as and when I see them. This is the one I think would be good arranged in a decent saute pan or a wok. So far, there is salsa, spice/herb pot, chilli dressing, a Thai curry mix and an assortment of relishes.
Total spend so far: £9.15, RRP £22.58
Most of the other presents are already sorted and ready. I've not started wrapping them yet, as I like to settle on a style/theme and I haven't come up with one I like yet lol.
At least these little hampers will keep me occupied. I love wandering around the shops looking for bits and bobs to put in them.0 -
Morning all! :wave:
I'm loving this thread and pinching loads of ideas! Progress so far:
SIL - Gardening hamper: gloves, tool set, kneeling pad, handcream, nailbrush, coffee mug all in pink/floral patterns. On the lookout for some seed packets to add for wildflowers or something similar.
Niece (student, living @ home) - chocolate & coffee addicts hamper: chocolate iPhone, Costa travel mug, novelty chocolate doorstop, coffee mug, mini whisk, mini grater. Still need to get hot chocolate & coffee sachets, will probably add an Amazon Kindle voucher as she carries her Kindle with her everywhere
Trying to find items for a "driving" hamper for BIL (who is a driving instructor but also does other driving jobs). I've got a Costa travel mug but I'm struggling to think of other things apart from driving gloves. Any ideas welcome!
Have a great, inspirational week everyone!!£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250
