Poundland have large plastic popcorn tubs in. They are decorated like the cinema popcorn tubs, and the perfect size to use as the actual hamper!.
Thanks for this, i managed to get a tub or two! in my p.land, fantastic size. They also had smaller and taller ones in mine @ 2 for a £1.
Hello everyome :waves:, im a long time lurker, great ideas and cant wait to see pics of completed hampers / gifts.

Hi peppa
Sorry I didn't reply last night, still having lots of internet problems :-(
Can't believe I didn't put on the instructions in the first post! Dizzy blonde moment there I think!
Anyway, here's the instructions:
Line a large baking sheet with baking paper. Sift the icing sugar. Place the egg white in a large bowl and whisk with a fork until just frothy. Add half the icing sugar and beat in. Add a few drops of peppermint extract, then gradually add enough icing sugar to mix to a firm paste, adding a little more icing sugar if necessary. Knead in extra peppermint extract to taste.
Divide the paste in half and colour one half pale green with a few drops of food colouring if liked. (I'm not sure why it says to colour only half of it, I colour it all!)
Sprinkle a little icing sugar on the work surface, then roll out the paste until it is about 5mm/1/4 inch thick. Cut out rounds or other shapes with a cutter and place on the baking paper. Leave to dry out in a cool, dry place for a few hours.
Then if you want to make them chocolate mints, melt chocolate and dunk the set peppermint into the melted chocolate and place back on the baking paper to set.
Hope you enjoy making (and mostly eating) them0 -
Hello everyone!
My in laws have just retired and bought a transit campervan. They are hoping to 'do it up' a bit inside and go travelling, possibly around Europe!
Ive just thought that maybe I could put together a little hamper that they might enjoy to do with their campervan, but I am stuck with ideas (or even whether its a good idea?!)
I don't know anything about caravans/campervans/camping as ive never done it before... but my list of ideas so far are:
Wipes
Hand sanitizer
Camping/Europe travelling/sightseeing book
THATS IT!
I would quite like something FOR the campervan but like I said I don't know what they would/might need?!
Any help would be so much appreciated xx:wave:0 -
..... sorry about the spaces!? very odd.:wave:0

Do they have a cooker in the campervan, if so what about some little oven trays, you could make some traybakes in them to give as a gift.
Or some posh plastic wine glasses with a bottle of their fav tipple, i,d wrap them in some cheap fleeces to wrap around their shoulders for the evenings they will spend in the great outdoorsNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -

They sound like brilliant ideas, thank you.
Yes they do have a little oven, which I saw had a grill pan but that was it. So something to think about!!
They are planning a little weekend trip in a few weeks to 'test it out' before properly travelling further afield - so im a little worried that they'll go out and buy EVERYTHING they need already! hmmm.:wave:0 -
Garden centres that sell a wide range of calendars might have a campervan one. I'm sure I've seen one in our local garden centre. It wasn't cheap - about a tenner! - but might be worth considering.
One of the cross stitch magazines recently had a campervan pattern which might be an idea as well.
What about searching the internet for cartoons about campervans and printing them out? I did this, but about Scouting, for my sister who is a Beaver leader. I put them all into a plastic pocket display book from the pound shop. She loved it. There are lots if you google 'campervan cartoons' in images, but play around with the wording, as others might come up too.
This can obviously be used for other ideas when someone is looking for hamper items based round a particular topic.0 -
If they're going to be away from family for long(ish) periods at a time then maybe print some photos for them and put in little frames or maybe get photos put on coasters or table mats or mugs?
There's always little knick knacks like novelty salt and pepper, depending on how much they're into that kind of thing?
Not very exciting but travel adaptor plugs and extra charger leads for whatever they have (phones, tablets, laptop, kindle etc)
Good luck! Sounds like a fun hamper!:j0 -
My best friend had triplets in January  so massively increased her family as she already had a 2 and a half year old toddler.
I'm thinking of making them a family hamper (need to find quite a big basket I think!:) ) and including things for them all. so possibly a couple of DVD's suitable for a 3 year old, and some chocolate buttons and a toy perhaps and then adult DVD's (haha not meaning the 'adult' kind), sweets, popcorn and a bottle of wine for the parent's but I'm not sure what to put in for the triplets - they'll only be (almost) 1 - they have two boys and a girl, does anyone have any suggestions. I'm also hoping to combine this with the ice cream hamper which the whole family will enjoy
Any thoughts and suggestions would be welcome0 -
For the campervan, what about some 'glamping' type decorative items? Some nice cushions or just cushion covers, plus some bunting to go around etc?0
