Home bargs have Indian food items on offer. Sauce/jars and packets are dated till 2016, and dips and chutneys till mid 2015, so I have got some to put in mums hamper, I have decided to provide dry meal ingredients instead of money for take out! Just need to get naans & popadoms closer the time and make a "just add meat" tag!
HB were putting all their Xmas wrap & decs out yesterday, yipee!
£land had lots of various jars which would be great for sweetie hampers, or for home made cookies etc. It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
Thanks spendless, was planning on sticking to toiletries, they have each gotten personalised keyrings and wallets a few years ago, (got them from ebay, oh is the shape of a heart with a pic of the rugrats engraved on it, really lovely, have been hinting for one for myself every year since
), I missed the post about the razor sharpener, but have had a look now, it's a good idea, thanks for that

Oooo a new hamper thread
I am doing one for my brothers birthday which is 2nd Oct. It's kind of a night in theme I guess, going to pick up a fitness magazine just before (as he is a personal trainer and it's his thing) and then I have chocolate, popcorn and a DVD (which I picked up for £ from Ald* even though it only came out last year) plus he has requested the new Chris Brown album - although he digital downloads now he said he noticed he has all his other albums physically so thought it would be good to continue bless him
For Christmas FIL has a food/drink hamper as he is really hard to buy for. We will put together a photo calendar with the lorries they run again I imagine (there is 10 so only double up on two haha) might pick some real ales up soon as something different.Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

I like that idea.
I went to a Yorkshire themed fancy dress party the other year covered in Yorkshire brands (heaviest costume ever, but I was very popular, as I let people help themselves)
I had:
Seabrooks crisps
Kit kats
chocolate orange
Haribo
Pontefact cakes
Yorkshire tea
Taylors of Harrogate products
Wensleydale cheese
Betty's fat rascal
and a selection of bottles of beers from a number of local micro breweries.
Are you wanting all edible stuff?
There are lots of Yorkshire artists and crafts people making local related things.Zebras rock0 -
Hello! Just wanted to pop in to say thank you to the OP for starting the thread and thanks to everyone for posting! I loved all the 2013 ideas and can't wait to get cracking on this year's!
Last year for my elderly mum's birthday in November I did a "Tea Time" hamper which she absolutely loved. This year I thought I'd do a "Comfort" one with slippers, a throw, gloves, hot water bottle, etc. Does anyone have any other ideas? She's in her 90's so doesn't want for much but doesn't go out much either (too frail). Any ideas gratefully received.

This is a great thread! So many brilliant ideas and thanks to everyone for sharing
I made a movie/game weekend hamper for my boyfriend for his birthday. Got a wicker basket from Home and bargains (sorry from Liverpool and can't shake the habit!) and some shredded tissue paper for the bottom of it and then bought him a new computer game, a couple of blu rays, his favourite sweets and 2 small bottles of wine - it all looked very symmetrical but I think that was my OCD coming outlol. He loved it so I'm hoping to do similar things this year for family members.
I'm so grateful for all the men's hamper ideas - despite having 3 brothers, I've never been that great at buying for men.
I love the hot chocolate mix in a Christmas bauble idea - does anyone know where you can get the ones that open at the top, I had a look on ebay and could only find the ones that open in two, but not sure if they'd be a bit messy when opening?
Some ideas for what to put in a hamper for kids could be:
colouring books
pencils/crayons
little Disney figurines or a Skylanders character for the boys
I found fairy tattoos on Amazon last year for about 50p
Favourite sweets
I've seen these cute fingerprint art pencil case sets which I'm considering for this year
Mr men/Little Miss books
If they're a bit older then maybe some nail varnishes etc
I only have nieces and not my own kids so my knowledge of what the 'kids are into these days' is a bit limited.
If you're thinking of doing a food/sweets hamper then how about making your own chocolates? Last year I made chocolate creams (peppermint, strawberry, lemon and orange) - I just used a peppermint creams recipe and used a variety of flavours in stead and then once they'd set I melted chocolate and dipped them in. My dad loves dark chocolate and nuts but most things in a box come covered in milk chocolate so I bought him brazil nuts, cashews, as well as stem ginger etc and covered them all individually in dark chocolate and presented them all in those clear plastic presentation bags - so much cheaper buying it all individually than buying a posh box. I also made peanut brittle and I attempted to make fudge but I didn't succeed very well with that
Good luck with all your sourcing guys!0 -
Wow, FierryAngel, well done on your chocolate making - do you have a favourite tried and tested peppermint creams recipe you could share? It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

managed to finish & wrap 3 hampers this week!
dd2 colouring hamper already for her bday in a couple of weeks
mum & stepd's "cosy nights" hamper for xmas (even managed to throw in a bottle of bubbly we had hidden at the back of a cupboard!)
And bro, his partner & her 2 kiddies large movie night hamper all done!
Feeling pleased with myself as I literally have stocking fillers left to buy now! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0
