I'll make sure I keep updating that page when I find cool stuff. Isn't it cool, I want to make one as well but I'm trying to think of a cheaper way, especially as my boyfriend complains and says for the price of a few small bottles I could get a big bottle (true I guess but it doesn't look as nice :snow_laug) :)

Hi folks, I'm planning on doing two make up and toiletries hampers for my two dds (age 20 and 16). This will be their main presents, but it won't be cheap (last years worked out to be about €80 each ), even though I go to the pound shop for the shampoo, cond etc. I buy them their favourite brand of fake tan (he-shi) and their favourite foundation (estee lauder and rimmel) and this pushes up the price, but everything else is bought as cheaply as possible, starting from about now and put into large wrapped shoeboxes (the ones with the lids attached, I tape the lids to stand up straight at back ifkwim). I was toying with the idea of doing two male versions for my oh and ds, but am stumped as to what will fill them apart from toiletries and shaving stuff, so will follow this thread with interest.

  • I made my SIL a pamper hamper with a make up bag filled with make up. I got it all from Cosmetic fairy. They have brand name make up for 99p and under!! Then put in the candle, fluffy socks, mini bottles of wine, chocs, bath stuff and a bath bomb xx

Thanks for that, but looked it up, I live in Ireland and the lowest rate they charge for shipping is 6.50, it looks a great site for UK shoppers though

  • First year doing all my family xmas hampers, so I have allocated a budget of £10 - £15 per person. As for themes I think it will be a pamper one for one sister and what I call a 'favourites' one for other sister and parents..basically whatever I find that I think they will like - a random assortment!!...dad will be a foodie one I think.

I pop into the £ shops whenever I have chance, today I picked up a hot choc tub, a pretty reusable shopper and an unofficial autobiography book. I noticed £land are selling boxes of twining tea also, so might get that too..

Am following this thread for ideas :) I picked up a small ish pink basket for one hamper. Not too sure how to wrap them cellophane then xmas wrap?

  • Morris@ns have plastic storage baskets on special offer. Various sizes, fantastic for hampers, starting at 87p, and the largest are only £3!

    Picked up 2 x large, 2 x medium & 4 small.

They also have chocolates tubs/tins on 2 for £8.

Bargain bunny - I tend to get the cellophane with christmas images on (this year I have silver snowflakes, santas and reindeers, and a nice red lace/floral design) this way i can just wrap in cellophane, add a bow, and people cant really see what is inside them. hth

Poundland have large plastic popcorn tubs in. They are decorated like the cinema popcorn tubs, and the perfect size to use as the actual hamper!

Big thanks for that! I have been looking out for these and nearly paid a fortune on eBay! :j
  • Scarves make pretty 'wrapping paper' and an extra present
    :)
The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.
  • I use the veg boxes you can pick up from your local supermarket for free, wrap them in some festive paper, line with tissue paper and envelope in cellophane - My mother in law loves her each year :-)

My darling mother :-( was not impressed with her 'my childhood memories of you', which had Fenjal bath oil, Crusha milkshake syrup, my favourite pic of us together, bottle of Martini, Thorntons chocolates
