DS is away at first swimming lesson of the term in his new group. DD went along for the ride. So I popped to Mr S as I hadn't done anything for dinner :o I know, not very MSE

But I did manage to get a vastly reduced Trashies toy in their sale to stash away for the December festival.

DD had a lovely mini-party (I won the bowling, lol) and I've had a tidy round. Oop. They are back. Dinner!

  • Wow, actually made it onto Fred for first day of the week.

Thank you to everyone for your lovely comments last week, trying to get this house straight before I have to take DD2 back to Uni next week and another few weeks before I have to do it all over again for DD1.

I am seriously procrastinating over sorting my room out, it has become a dumping ground for everything, and I am finding all jobs in everybody else's room as "more important"......why I thought washing down all the walls and paintwork in DD4's room with sugar soap today was an absolute must, I don't know, but it took 3 x 90 mins to get it done.

We have been busy brushing the old block paving stones ready for builder to lay at the back of house, but it started raining. Had DD3 and her bf painting under a gazebo for a while, now they are vegging out while I have HHMe time.

Lots of Anthea towel folding gone on here today, airing cupboard is almost fully stocked again.......decided to cut up some old towels to make emergency sick/poop clothes that can be lobbed straight after clean up. I was trying to rationalise which ones to chop up, I chopped one which was a wedding present almost 23 years ago, but the one I had for showers after PE at school 30 odd years ago I kept intact for sentimental reasons (and it was an old towel even then)

I have folded a lot of washing and ready to deliver to everyone's rooms....I have made some nicely folded bedding parcels in scented vacuum bags for DD1 and DD2 so it's like opening a present when they get there. I really really don't want to get on with my room. I should make a concerted effort otherwise I will be sleeping on DD4's floor again as I can't get in the door (it has never been that bad EVER!)

Right going to have get my behind in gear after a quiet cuppa....hopefully by the next post I should have something from my room to report :)
The cold never bothered me anyway

I know how difficult the 'old towel' dilemma is, Skint, and I'm with you all the way on this one. There are two towels in the dog cupboard that I know are striped; one pink and one yellow (with white stripes). If I said to anyone, 'Could you get the pink and white striped towel out?' they would have good cause to think I had gone mad they're so washed out. My father was in the army and he was posted far, far away in 1969. My mother bought a pair of blue, yellow, pink and green striped towels in each colour and I have what was left after ... 45 years, and I know this because I've just done the sum.

Nothing and no-one is ever going to tell me that they have to go. I don't care about the frayed edges, I don't care that there's no fluff left on them; I love them. They stay and that's an end to it.

Paper shuffling has occurred, and various bits of kitchen crud have been decrudded, but it hasn't been my best flying day ever. I'll be back in the kitchen tomorrow cooking a ham for a birthday present, lobbing a few frozen Twinks in the oven while it's hot and cooking up the dog food that I meant to do yesterday. And flea-ing her because that didn't get done either. I'm off to the attic now because I can at least clear that part of y'day's list. I am a bad flylady.
    Better is good enough.

Sorry, haven't gone through the thread :o. I haven't done the kitchen stuff today but I have been shopping, applied for and was accepted for new bank account (gaining £100:T), made phone calls, been shopping, sorted Z's mobile phone, cleaned the bathrooms and vacuumed right through. Oh and S has had a bath, Z has deeply conditioned her hair. Rewarded myself at the shops by buying some really nice liquid soap (sad I know but it does smell lush) and a copy of Gardener's World in the vain hope it may inspire me!

Been stressful today and I've lost it a couple of times - am I an awful Mum to be glad kids are back off to school tomorrow?

  • Hugs CharlieY. My OH is self employed too and struggles a bit to get motivated at times.

So, have cracked on today and just got finished. Thinking about my flylady friends all the while. You were mentally spurring me on.

Have: done 4 hours at job number 1, then 1.5 hours job number 2, been to the supermarket, done an hours walk with the dog, made a roast dinner and did a bit of baking for OHs pack up. Hoovered the kitchen and utility and washed the floors, cleaned windows in these rooms and wiped over the cupboard doors and worktops. Done two loads of washing, one dried and put away the other out on the line.

Sigh. Jim jams on and feet up now!

  • I'm in this week please.
Spent the last 48hrs traveling (southport - brighton - southend - southport) 600 miles visiting family & attending my grandads funeral.
The girls are knackered as am I & we are all back at work tomorrow, dd2 goes back to school on Wednesday so tomorrow I'm going to just tidy all the cr*p we dumped when we arrived home tonight.
I'll get back to lists on Wednesday but only level 1 this week.

September challenges - lose half a stone, make conservatory inhabitable again & make house safe for dd1 18th birthday party!

    See you all tomorrow.
