    The sprout!

I'm not a lover.. Being bought up on soggy sprouts put me off them for life.. Found myself ogling Mary Berry's on TV earlier.. She did them with pancetta and chestnuts.. Looked lush but an awful lot of oil was involved and I've never tried chestnuts.. Quite like the look of them shredded with bacon..

    How do you do yours?

    ;)

    Morning :)

It's the weekend again already, time flies. Yesterday evening DH and I went into Cartagena and had a wander round the city. Lots of Spanish people were out shopping and taking their children to see Santa. It was lovely with all the Christmas lights and decorations.

I love sprouts and have them whenever they're available. I steam them until just tender, and have gravy with them. Cranberry sauce goes well with them but it's not essential. I saw Nigella do a baked dish with sprouts, potatoes, pasta and mascarpone cheese that looked nice, but I'm happy with them just as they come. :p

    Evening all
Rotten day, ive felt rubbish all day. However an emergency trip to the doctors at 5.45 told me that there's nothing seriously wrong and that ive got a virus. However bizarrely my appetite has been ok but I've craved stodge and rubbish.. Nearly succumbed to the lure of the chippy but I was good :)
I'm going off into wifi exile for Xmas tomorrow so posting now.

A very Merry Christmas everyone, see you on the other side :) xx

Thanks Mrs R, Glad you're feeling better, have a lovely time yourself.

    Back later

    Good morning all

Those d*amn quality street chocolates! Had quite a few of those last night:eek::o

Why oh why can't I control myself and just have one or two? Why do I have to keep eating?

Oh well, it's done now. Making butternut squash soup today.
Also need to do a big shop today. I have a £12 off voucher for Sainsbury's.

    Have a good day
  • I'm a sprout hater unless they are done a la Mary berry.
I use bacon medallions and chestnuts are delicious and low fat (for nuts)
Both the chestnuts and sprouts need lots of seasoning which is why the bacon makes them taste so nice.
My sIL stirfrys shredded sprouts with chilli and garlic to have with cold meats on Boxing Day and all their family say that is the best way to have them.

Pleased with this as it was my sisters Hawaiian Birthday on Tuesday and we went to Pizza Hut. I filled up on salad with a bit of seafood sauce (very strong flavoured ) and had a gluten free Americano pizza (checked the sauce was GF too). Didn't have pud as was STILL eating the pizza when everyone had finished their pud . It was so flipping hard to cut and chew. My mouth was sore the next day. Also something had garlic in so lips and mouth tingled all night.
We had a mince pie and mulled wine get together after school Thursday and I (polishes halo) had nothing, felt a bit of a prat sat there while everyone had theirs and was very glad when hubby arrived to pick me up.
Have finished now for Christmas, still haven't put tree up and am ignoring it until someone else mentions it. Hubby has next 2 days off so imagine it will go up on one of them.
Talking of hubby , he was rostered to work Christmas day until some bright spark realised nowhere would be open so there would be nothing for him to do. He's now down to work Boxing Day but doubts there will be much to do there either. Gotta love whoever does the rota :rotfl:
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

  • I'm another sprout stirfryer! I shred them in the processor then fry with bacon and onions.

2lbs off at weigh in this morning, so not as bad as I feared. I'm staying on plan all the way through to Christmas eve night. We normally have Dominos on Christmas eve but going to make a slimming world chilli with rice, tortilla chips and sour cream. My concession will be a nice cake for pudding! Christmas day shouldn't be too bad but boxing day will be the trickiest as I do a buffet and boy do I love a buffet! Aiming for a maintain but may be optimistic given that my weigh in is the day after boxing day!
