    Hi

Welcome jpscloud, your sitution sounds just like mine. Feel free to share your experiences and ask questions, there's lots of useful information available from the lovely people on this thread.

I thought I'd posted this morning, but if I did it's disappeared. Anyway, I intended to sympathise with those finding Christmas difficult. It's not my favourite season either but all we can do is make the best of it, it'll be over before we know it and we can start looking forward to the new year and new beginnings. Hugs to all who need them.

I managed to buy some lamb leg steaks yesterday so prepared lamb tagine in the slow cooker and had it with green beans and a jacket potato - it was delicious! There's a bit left over but not enough for 2 so I might add it to pasta and chopped tomatoes and do a pasta bake.

    Be back tomorrow.

Thank you Lauri for directing me over here!

I posted this on an older thread:

Hi all, may I join you?

I'm going to join SW (again, did it many years ago) on Monday. Some of my work colleagues who form a small buddy group for weight loss were horrified that I was going to join this close to Christmas!

I know it's probably not the time most people join, but it's the time that everything has come right for me to join. I'm heavier than I've ever been, and I'm at a junction in my life where I can go down the obesity-related disability and illness route (I may already be there, but hope I can reverse the damage I've done by getting so big), or I can go down the other route which sees me doing moderate sustainable exercise and eating more sensibly for the rest of my life.

I may not lose a lot of weight, although I would really like to. What I want to do is create a happy active future, instead of one where there might be no future at all, or one with severely reduced quality of life, if I don't act.

Anyhow, I think the time is right for me to start getting my weight monitored and attending meetings to focus myself a bit better. I will of course go off plan and eat like a crazy thing on some days, so I don't expect a very good weight loss over Christmas.

What I do hope for is that being on the plan will give me a little more control so that I don't go crazy over the whole two weeks (I work in education so in recent years it's just been a two-week binge!!) and might stand a chance of not putting on half a stone or more.

    That's worth a fiver, I think!

I'm a little nervous about going to the meeting, as I haven't done this for quite a few years. It's very convenient though, very close to my house and on Mondays, which suits me best.

It would be great to be able to check in here and get advice and encouragement as well!
    Welcome
I joined in between xmas and new year last year, I was determined to find a group and start and I did! It was the best thing I did, 49 weeks later and ive lost 6 stone 1lb with a couple more stones to lose. Do it!

That's amazing, so inspiring, I want to say that next Christmas.

Welcome jpscloud, just join now. I wasn't sure about group, I didn't like the clapping and group discussion before but actually with this consultant it's not too bad and quite motivational and I quite like the class. Go for it!

Well, laptop has officially died so will only be able to post intermitantly when I can get on the 'family' PC which my son tends to hog.

So sorry to hear of your losses and sad memories at this time. I too lost my sister and 18 yr old half brother unexpectedly 10 yrs ago. It would have been her and my dad's birthdays this month. She was my elder sister (only 18 months between us) but the one I was closest to (there are 9yrs between me and the next sister) and I still miss her loads.

Absolutely no need to apologise tie and you're not alone. I know virtual friends aren't the same as RL but sometimes it can help to offload. Please post all you want, depressive or otherwise.:A

Hope you're feeling a bit brighter today MrsR, yesterday sounded really tough.:)

That's an amazing achievement annie and absolutely proves the benefits of healthy eating.

Welcome jpscloud. You won't go far wrong by doing what you remember of Red and Green until you get your head around the new plan. Lots of people still do those, especially the green for veggies and Red for those who don't get on with carbs. Although it's unlikely your consultant will focus on them tomorrow. I'd suggest you post your menus on here if you have time (especially over school holidays) and we'll help with any tweaking needed. Good luck for your first WI.:)

Lamb tagine sounds yum LL. That's something denise makes regularly too. I must try it as I've got some YS lamb cubes which would work. Shame about the cauli pizzas crabapple, but at least you tried.

I was pleased with myself last night. The only synful eats I picked up from the buffet were a quarter of an egg sandwich (looked wholemeal), half a Scotch egg and a chicken 'lollipop' that had something sticky on it but no skin. Otherwise it was all fruit and veg bits. And the biggest saving was that I drank water all night so not an alcoholic syn passed my lips which is almost unheard of on a Saturday!

    My EE plan for today:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB bread, kippers, HEA milk for teas
L: ham, fried veg and pickles
D: lamb, roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots, cauli, broccoli, cabbage
    Syns: gravy, wine syns:j
