Could anybody recommend a very easy and completely SW cake please? At my knitting group we all take cake on our birthdays and mine is coming up.

I don't even mind a refrigerator type cake ..... I expect I'll have to make 2 anyway to feed us lot!!

Usual menu here, the rest of the homity pie for dinner. Syns wise I don't know yet. I feel the need for chocolate but will do my best to resist!

Or alternatively, I will scoff a choc chip shortbread AND a toasted teacake :o No more syns for me today (or possibly several days!)

Crabapple, my eldest DD kept me awake last night, rolling in at 4.30 a.m. this morning after a night out with her work pals. The sleep deprivation continues even when your kids are older!! :D

Oh God! I keep hoping things will get better!!

  • Morning everyone, thanks for the warm welcomes!

Crabapple - My OH absolutely adores the homity pie and in fact requests it for dinner once a week. We always have it with a couple of the linda mccartney red onion "sausages" and it's a really cosy and comforting meal.

Ended up being dragged to the pub last night after work despite not feeling great. Had a couple of whiskeys and then diet coke and stayed just within the syns. Today is looking like this:

B - bran flakes (HEB), shape ff yogurt, apple
L - cheese salad (mixed leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, cottage cheese, grated cheese) (HEA)
D - Turkey Tikka Masala (using the SW recipe for the chicken one from the site) with rice and salad
S - Banana, 2 clementines, carrot sticks, apple, weetabix oaty bar (3.5 syns)

Thinking about it I could have put the curry in the slow cooker this morning but I was rather tired. It doesn't take that long to cook so should be fine.

Well done to all the losers this week!

  • Hi, feeling a bit sorry for myself today. The crown prep I had done yesterday is sore. Not toothache, just a really sore gum and a bruise where the injection went in.
Hubby home from London this evening but don't know what time yet so have put some chicken in the slow cooker.
    Today's menu:-
    HE a s. milk
    HE b hifi bar
    B hifi and banana
L couscous salad, grapes and mint muller
D chicken casserole and jacket spud - loads of sf veg in it.
BM walk to school and back
Syns will be olives (2) and either some wine or another hifi but within allowance.
    Have a great day x

Oooh, I hadn't thought of sausages (blame sleep deprivation!). Thank you, that's a great idea. Still reckon it would be better without the thyme personally, but I'm not a big fan of some of the herbs.

My hubby loved it too - he loves cheese and I got a mature low fat one so there was plenty of flavour.

Hugs Matron, hope you feel better soon. I hate being messed with by the dentist.

I had the loveliest of dinners today from a recipe card I picked up at the supermarket, that looked very SW friendly.

    Middle Eastern Chicken Skewers

1 Clove crushed garlic ( I used lazy stuff)
    2 tspns olive oil
    1 tspn grated lemon zest
    A squeeze of lemon juice
    1 tspn ground cumin
    1/2 teaspoon paprika
500g Chicken tenderloins / strips chicken breast

Mix all together and marinate chicken for an hour or more, thread chicken onto skewers and BBQ or cook in griddle pan for 4 or 5 mins on each side.

Served with a chunky HM cucumber, yoghurt and mint sauce dressing, char-grilled peppers and aubergine slices with half a packet of Uncle Bens Pilau rice.

I'll definitely be doing that one again and looking forward to it already: I can see lot of potential to play around with the spices and flavours of rice to make something a little bit different too. :rotfl:

Mildredd, the SW syns list I got when I joined on line had 3 for choc digs so I’ve always counted that. I've just checked the SW syns list I downloaded recently and it says standard/light are 4 syns, so I guess you win an extra nibble and I lose - lot. This remind me of the cream cracker syns debate lol

Thanks, maman. Looks like I'd be better off eating the real thing, eg half fat Cumberland sausages. Oh well, I’ll just have one sausage. Glad I read this thread early!

Mum yes Fry’s cream is sweet, but it’s the only time I will eat plain choc My mum loved it too – on a piece!

    Meg – nom nom nom

Matron, I feel your pain (wince) I hate everything the dentist does to me.

I love Fry's Chocolate Cream too... slightly bitter chocolate with all that sweet goo... mmmm

Not the thread for this is it!

It always reminds me that when I was young there was a Fry's bar with fruit cremes in it and I loved the stuff. I just googled thinking I haven't seen any for a while and apparently they stopped making it in 1992  There's a facebook group trying to get it back, bless them!

ETA: Just checked syns online and a bar is 'only' 10 syns....
