I've just done it big and bright so our lovely Shala, keeper of the records, won't miss it!
Weigh in whichever day you want. Those of us at group do it on our group days, if you're at home pick your day and report your progress each week.:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Thanks for the response Mamam. I should have put it that it was the butcher steak mince, I have a feeling if i ask him i will a. have to repeat myself about 5 times and b. get the answer he thinks i want to hear and not perhaps the truth
If your butcher is unlikely to tell you the truth about how much fat was in the steak then I think it's probably worth synning it. The online syn value for 12% is 2 syns per 100g raw. What some people do is cook their mince and then drain off any fat that comes from it and wash with boiling water (not something I would choose to do!). But I would certainly drain any fat which comes from it when you cook it and then syn at 2 syns per 100g.
In future if you're buying your mince from the butcher it is probably better to pick out a piece of steak and ask him to mince that piece for you after cutting off as much fat as possible and then it should be free.
Alternatively just buy your mince at the SM where it's already labelled!
HTH.

A basic, sweet waffle is 6 syns on the site. If you're thinking of online membership just for access to the syns then I wouldn't waste your money. I've not heard anything good about online membership. Is there no chance you could join a group if you've got £5 spare especially as now you could drive to one?
Feeling very headachey here. It should mean I don't fancy any wine syns but no doubt that will change by this evening!
This is what I think I'll have on EE today although yet to do a shop:
B: NAS Ribena, baked beans, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: beef and vegetable soupburger, SW chips, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, peas
Syns: scrape of spread, squirt of HP and maybe wine.;)
duke, there are syns in my burger (it's made from 10% mince which is all I could get at the time) but like denise said I'll drain/pat off as much as I can when cooked and count it as 2 for 100g.
I'm going to make a SC of chilli this weekend as I've run out of HM ready meals. As I've got plenty in freezer I'm doing it with YS diced beef. It's worth checking packaging as often diced beef can be cheaper than 'steak' mince with far less fat. Sometimes I buy a large joint (£6 per kg in Sainsbury's last weekend) and portion it up for the freezer into joints and cubes.0 -

That you for the syns; you are my SW oracle Maman!
Group wise I may see if there's one on a Monday morning I could get to as I can't really spare time any other day etc, I suppose I could pay the £5 for a few weeks then hit target and it would be free again
I've never thought of doing that with a larger cut of meat and I often see larger joint of beef or pork reduced in the supermarkets down to just a few pounds. With it just being us and wonder bairn I could buy a larger one and split it in to two; roast one half and dice up the other for casseroles etcopens up a whole new world of ideas for me!
Just been to pick up my new slow cookerand treated myself to a £9.99 set of digital scales whilst I was there too so no more having to rush about to weigh myself and no more excuses!

Lushlifesaver - I also buy large joints of pork and cut up in a similar way. All the SMs seem to do pork on special offer quite regularly and you can use pork in loads of different ways.
We probably eat far more pork than beef!

Welcome to our group pastmysellby  I've added you to the challenge..
and thanks Crabapple for making it big
Denise - I think the reason the syns are different between tsp and tbsp. is the rounding - don't SW round up or down depending on what fraction the syns come out nearest too? so if it were 0.6 it would be half a syn but 3 x 0.6 = 1.8 so that's nearer 2??
I might be making the above up by the way :rotfl:
Annie - nice picture, I love a good pasta bake
So I've had a mad busy day and have hardly had time to eatso my menu looks pants! I managed to go and get petrol without buying chocolate/crisps even though I was a bit nauseous (sp?) from hunger. :T
Still going for an EE day, need to have loads of SF with dinner though
B - yogurt, banana
L - ham sandwich (heb) stuffed in my face in 2 minutes before the hairdressers
T - chicken fajitas, wrap (6) rice, onion, peppers, salad
S - milk in tea (hea) couple of grapes
No syns on naughty stuff, so i'm treating myself to a wrap!Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0
