  • Sorry I have been missing for last few days, was still ploughing on with challenge though so thanks to Mothernerd and to all of you lovely people on this thread who have made it feel at least a little bit fun to not spend. Have just had another quick skim through the thread, realise so much has happened since I last posted that I have no hope of commenting on all individually, but hugs to all who have been ill and / or lost their mojo over the last few weeks - some of you have really been going through a rough time!

So with the help of YNAB (yes, I still love it!) my final scores on the doors are as follows:
    Food 503.44/460
    Petrol 77.12/80
    Kids' school / clubs 248.39/240
Other planned spends, inc birthdays 110.12/130
    SFD 13/15
    Exercise 12/22
Food bank 0/3 (will rectify this next month though, as DS2's school doing harvest collection for local foodbank, so gonna put 8 items in for this month and next)
New skill - giving a Powerpoint presentation, prepped with OU course and did the presentation last week, was nervewracking but so good to get it done!

Meditation / mindfulness wasn't really achieved except when eating........

Even though I didn't manage to stay within budget for most of it I have no doubt that the actual setting of them made me spend considerably less than I normally would have. I've also got more resolve (if less money!) for October's Triathlon challenge - see you in October, Ninja Turtley Squirrel-Types.

I don't seem to get colds, I either get pneumonia or pleurisy or nothing :(

Might try the Eccinacea to boost my immune system

Please take care :) I had both of these together before and the pleurisy was a killer! Eccinachea and Ivy Thyme complex is what sent them packing in the end :)

Well I'm looking forward to next month when I fall below 5K :T I'll be glad to see the end of this month as it was very difficult, but I feel better to be back on this forum-it keeps you grounded and on track. Well done everyone. Thanks Mothernerd for the brilliant take over and to Applemuncher for keeping it going for next month :T Take care everyone and keep going! See you next month :)

Just popping in to say well done everyone and to confess again to losing track in September.

Have read all the posts but mostly in catch up mode when I have had the time.

I will do better in October. Budgets are in place a big shop with voucher tomorrow.

    See you all in Oct

  • Well my posts have been a little scarce this month.

I've been reading every day and softly encouraging people and sending well wishes but I've just not had the energy to post.

Still in moving limbo so a little down about it all, and work is at my busy stage at the moment.

With a little bit of YNAB whack-a-moling I've managed to keep with in my total cash budget for September. In fact I've got a grand total of £15.21 left.

Total spend free days for the month are 18. Managed to get a couple over the weekend from winning some supermarket vouchers through work and the OH visiting.

I'm going to be cheering you all on through October. I will give the Triathlon my best but it all depends on the move, or, not move and work.

For the first month NSK-less I think we have all done brilliantly and carried on NSK's teachings. More importantly we have welcomed newcomers in and offered advice and support and laughs.

    Well done Turtles!

    Good evening.

Work was a complete horrendous challenge... however, it meant that I have no wish to go anywhere except the sofa then bed so it's another spend-free day. This is number 16.
    :j

Figured out all my stuff for October yesterday. Thank goodness as today I can't even remember my own name.

Just to help out with the confusion, Thursday will be spent wrapping xmas pressies to take down south (save money on postage and we are entitled to free check-in bags). I also have a course at work on the new paperwork. Hooray!!
    :D

Hope everyone else is doing well and the people who are ill get better. I generally have a good immune system (touch wood) but I put that down to eating worms as a child.
    :rotfl:

edit: Thank you very much mothernerd for being such a great leader. I would hope NSK would be proud of how well her wee turtles are managing to continue her traditions.
    Hugs.

Thanks Mothernerd for this month. Feeling failure as my credit cards are higher now than at the start of the month, looking on the bright side, have lovely painted house, outside and bedroom, hall been decorated. Together with new carpets in 2 bedrooms love my home now.

September had been good brilliant weather, lovely weekly challenges, learn something new - confession time, yoga mat still in box, may stay there a few weeks longer. As have a ton of topsoil being delivered today, exercise sorted lol.

Had another leak yesterday, my fault knew the sealant around the bath needed re doing, so no showers until I fix it. Have to be soon as on a water meter. Luckily just hit far wall in Hall and my wallpaper escaped to live another day phew.

Spent 61 pounds on dog with all infections and kennel cough yday to include 7 pounds re start charge. This way can go away somewhere when I like without having to beg friends to look after her.

Haven't looked at targets for next month yet. Going to tight as have done some reckless spends this month. Need to recover sharply.

An expensive month all round, you have a lot going on.

    Yay to being below £5K.

I have had a busy but spend free day. DS1 came, loads of soil has been moved, couple more shrubs in the front garden, stone chippings moved onto the path (path ones were moved elsewhere), bed in tiny room is now flat (and I have made it up and moved a pile of DS3's clothing off the landing into the wardrobe), shed mending has been finished off, broken paving slabs moved to front of the house (will be used on edges of garden to keep weeds down, lawn preparation can begin (17 potato growing bags hanging up to release any remaining soil).

When he went to get his lunch, DS1 called at the other house (I wanted him to turn off the fridge/ freezer and bring any food back here. He is sure that DS2 has not yet gone - stuff everywhere including washing in the machine. So he will owe me another week's rent on Friday.

Would like to do more today but think I am out of energy (fighting to stay awake). Thank you for being so lovely, you all make this thread. Will see you in October - read applemuncher's post today, if you haven't seen it.

Today I am grateful for helpful sons, for using what we have and ys bargains - have eaten scraps and bits of ys bargains and had some lovely things.

  • Hello Squirrel Turtles...

Dropping in to say well done all on the challenge this month and I look forward to joining you next month!!

Kat started her day at eyewatering o' clock and popped a pic of moggy up in her travel basket waiting for a 5:30am train this morning. Hopefully she is safely tucked up with Mumsie in cosy NI and ready for a relaxing few weeks before the off!

I know she would be proud of you all. I am sure she will catch up herself eventually!!

I am off to bed feeling rough. I also start October with a requirement for sugar and ketchup unless I go to the shop right now... Whilst rough. Decisions...

I am definitely overdue going to bed - was just wondering why you lot were all thanking mothernerd when there was a whole day to go, then realised I'd lost a whole day and it's the 30th already!!! Thank you so much mothernerd, you were the perfect host and I've loved your epic posts.

Today was a spendy day as needed salad to ensure dinner was healthier. Nearly had to spend £130 on an emergency vets appointment tonight as the puppy had had a mishap with his developing reproductive organs and apparently raging libido!!! Luckily when we pulled up at the vets, all was back in its place and we didn't have to have an appt. It gave the receptionist a good laugh anyway.

No exercise as work took all evening (and dash to the vets). Hope you all had a good day and a raring to tackle October :)
