Hey all, and helloooo to Tori/Dori- look forward to seeing you about in October's challenge!
Hope all those who are poorly are feeling a little better today!
Calling- Definitely try bottled water/ boiled water. That is a little concerning- have you checked with your water supplier to see if there have been any other similar complaints in your area?
Tiptoes- Hope the holiday does go well for you and your Mum. I agree with mothernerd regarding both of you still grieving and also making sure you both make time for yourselves whilst you are away! Family relationships are rarely straightforward, but going on holiday with your Mum is a lovely thing to do. x

I nabbed another SFD yesterday, as I avoided any shops and spent the day with my best friend and her family. Today is looking like another potential spend free day, but I shall not claim it until the day is out!I have had two bits of money come my way today- I received a cheque from the DVLA for a tax rebate for 2 months of tax on my old rust bucket. I also found out that my new car insurance company had credited me just over £10 into my account after I sent them proof of my No Claims discount. As there was a week and a half's overlap between old insurance on old car and new insurance on new car, I thought I had just missed out on another year's No Claims discount, but it appears the new company let me claim for it and refunded the difference.
I paid my cheque in and also dropped off 20 items to the local charity shop, so my room feels a little more liberated now!
Went for a proper jog yesterday with my other half, we both felt just a tad unfit afterwards, but woke up with lots of energy this morning so I think my body has been craving a bit more movement from me!
I'm going to head on outside for a little bit of reflection (chill out in the garden on the swinging chair), and then head on in to my work shop and partake in some painting.
Happy Friday everyone! Keep on squirrelling! xx:coffee:

Another NSD and exercise session in the bag!
Needed to return dd's library book, and wanted to borrow more. So I left my Oyster card at home, ensuring I walked both ways, and only took the library cards with me, ensuring I only went to the library!
I have pottered on with craft today, actually putting the finishing touches on 3 bunnies, and getting 6 hanging hearts ready for their final stitching up.
The exercise involved far too many squats - with sandbag!- again, but I guess this was balanced out by a myriad of variations of push ups.:D
I made my neighbours some muffins, and also lent then the mower + rake (tiny gardens, not worth wasting money on a mower that gathers the grass for me). They help us soooo much, it was nice to give something back.
Yes, mothernerd, I guess bouncy hoppers feature high up in my grateful lists! Unfortunately, I do not have one, but dd gets so much fun and bounce out of hers, that that makes me happy too!
Today I am grateful for dry weather that dried my clothes, for the management at dd's school who always listen, for having plenty of food, for hydrocortisone, for a peaceful day.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Caved in and having Pizza, from a shop not take away so reasonably priced - had my 5 bits of fruit today plus veggies at lunchtime, turned down chocolates at work and toast this morning, so not all bad.
Just remembered my son has a party tomorrow Oh joy.

First spends day
Groceries £8.65, so not bad but I have dgd staying the night and as I let her chose tea the majority was spent on that, mind you I did enjoy the chips and pizza!! Hoping to have a sfd on Sunday but not one tomorrow as I'm going to a food after - yummy
Off on holiday on Monday on my own and really looking forwards to it, I'm going down south to see if the weather is warmer and have a look around places that I don't get to when I have various children with me, it has been budgeted for and I'm taking most of the food with me so I'm hoping I can keep costs down - we will see.
Anyway have a good Saturday and I hope all the under the weather peeps get well soon

NannyG what a fabby and courageous thing to be going on holiday on your own! I hope you get to do lots and lots of exploring and have a really fabulous time. As for the weather, I can vouch, growing up in Sherwood Forest and then moving to Kent was a revelation. There is such a thing as sunshine, and it is here a lot! I always say it never rains until after 5pm
usually at night, and it is always a few degrees warmer than those back home have it. We are blessed.
Applemuncher, lovely neighbour you are, can you move here?!(The weathers good.... :rotfl:)
MagicCat - Yes, most certainly definitely you are doing better than I am. I have spent £80.14 on groceries.... already. I overspent my phone contract minutes (800) by £16 due to calls to mum/family. On the flip side, I have made £129.34 this week in miscellaneous cash- still I should be in this challenge to keep me on the straight and narrow. This is only my first SFD
Keep on trucking guys

Thank you for all the get well wishes, you lot are super lovely
lilt again you've amazed me with your cash production ! Are you sure you are not printing money?
Today has been a SFD as I haven't made it further than the washing line, and that was tiring enough.
Got an email from my bank (1st d1rect) about free tickets to a jake bugg concert. Thought it'd be too good to be true but apparently they are in the post on their way to me! I did have to pay £2.50 postage but it's not come out of my account yet so I'll record it as a spend when it does.

Hi everyone! Guess what, I am sleeping in my own bed (no guests) and have been for a couple of days! Bad head yesterday (manifested as a cold today) meant a NSD, but also limited check ins. NSD today too, and boss bought lunch to work today for us all...result! I even have a tupperware of salad leftovers to use up tomorrow. Got my 5, 6, 7 or more a day today, to make up for being sick yesterday.
Had friends here for dinner on Wed and tonight. Feel proud that I didnt rush out for all fresh ingredients etc, but just adapted my meal plan to things that would stretch for them too!
Fading fast now,so will check in properly tomorrow. Best of luck saving the pennies guys! xx0 -
A little tidying, washing and sorting out done this morning ready for DS first half day in reception this afternoon. He couldn't wait to get there, loved every minute and I managed to hold it together:rotfl: he has another half day tomorrow and then full time from Monday.
Just a little bit is the way to go when your energy levels are low - I sometimes feel I have achieved so much more on a day of purposeful pottering then throwing myself into something and getting exhausted part way through - all those little bits add up.
Yesterday my grumpy mood and general feeling down turned into a cold and suspected chest infection. I managed the day at work but have had to take today off as really need some r&r if I'm to get better.
Not going to say told you so, just take it easy.
Spend day yesterday on tissues, ibuprofen and ice cream! All medicinal obviously.
Listen to your body, have an ice cream for me.
Hope you all have lovely days and thank goodness it's the weekend tomorrow!
Yay weekend (but I have painting to do:().
Phoenix usually rent a room out, to be honest I love having my house to myself, starting cooking again, nice not having to extra work involved with a lodger, washing, cleaning let alone extra electric, gas. I think have been more frugal without one, actually love staying in now. Tempted not to have one at the moment even though my have to change my DFD but life is all about enjoying yourself. Well when I am up to it so much more relaxed with just me and my dog,
