Thanks mothernerd, the miniature moohound hound is much better today and charging about like a puppy.

He had his yearly check up at the vets last month and he is in good shape for his years.

Our carpets stayed intact the other night, it was a case of leaping out of bed grabbing the retching dog and sprinting with him then holding him over the toilet, he only weights 3.5kgs. It was a bit like dachshund relay sprinting.

Good to hear he is feeling better. My first Labrador hit old age at the same time I had DD, I didn't cope well, a very difficult baby, first time mum and an old dog who was having back end problems wasn't easy for me at the time. One day he ate his tea, laid down in the hallway and started fitting and never stopped, it took me a really long time to get over it, I felt very guilty about spending so much time with DD.

Fmess - I would try a mattress topper but they can be quite expensive and the springs may damage it so it may be better to just replace the mattress, I would recommend a memory foam one, no springs, no uncomfy bits, they are fabulous, the memory foam pillows however are dreadful.

nanygladys - your day sounds lovely.

applemuncher - hope your DD is OK, poor love.

Well DH is out staining the fence, he bought some wood to repair it last week and a new pot of stain, yesterday he did the repairs in the rain and now it is sunny he can get the stain on. Later he is painting the outside of a north facing wall with clear weatherproofing stuff ready for winter, all this was budgeted for this month.

Later we are taking our bikes to the canal path with the kids and riding through to a couple of towns, we will take some snacks and a flask, before tea me and DH will go for a 'proper' bike ride, we would have done that yesterday but it never stopped raining so I went to the gym.

On the subject of clothes I had a massive clear out of my wardrobe yesterday, I have gone from a size 18 to a 12 so far this year with more weight to lose. I took all the size 18's and 16's out, some are going on ebay, some went to the charity shop for selling on and some for rags as they were very well worn and going in holes, some went into a storage box in the loft for reasons I am not sure about.

I have 3 short sleeved cardigans, 2 long and 1 short and 2 tank tops which I wear in autumn over a long sleeved top/shirt all but 1 came from CS's or ebay, one of them is a gorgeous fairisle tank top, very land girl and I will wear it to death. I also have two dresses, from the same route as the other clothes, both can be worn with or without tops underneath and look fab with boots. I find some good bargains on ebay if you shop for the opposite season, get your summer stuff now as people are clearing it out but not so many are bidding on it.

  • Moohound, daschund toilet relay had me in stitches! It must not have been funny at the time, but the idea of a dog being sick in the toilet just sets me off! :rotfl:

Dolly, I've said before, I watch the lbs lost creeping up on your sig with awe! An 18 to a 12 is incredible... as for keeping the clothes... Mum did that for years! It was only this time, with SW, that she threw them out and the fear of having to buy all new ones has kept her slim so she says :rotfl:

Apple - poor DD. Mouths are sensitive! Nice job on the cold flannel though. Jellytot fights like a demon against a cold flannel...

Mothernerd, thank you for the missing link in my multi-quoting prowess! It was clicking the 'quote' button at the end that did me!!! :D:D:D

The relay is something I am familiar with (stairs and landing carpet was first to be destroyed) so could often be found carrying cat or instructing her to get to the landing/ litter tray when she started the hicupping turning into retching as it was much easier to wipe up. Stepping out of bed at 6am into cat mess (of whatever end) is no fun, you know you aren't going to have a great day. On the plus side, I have a nearly brand new white organic cotton duvet cover which went back into storage soon after I bought it, which I can finally use.

Excellent weight loss. I had a big (gish) clearout recently. Most of my things have been worn to death/ gone to cs as I have lost my first 3 stone - I only had a few things in each size. however I recently parted with a few of my brother's things. Decided the n*xt jumper I had been wearing for the past 7 years did nothing for me (was stretched into a pregnant with a beach ball shape) and I was using it as a comfort blanket. I was told on another thread that I had a poor self-image but all the weight I have put on over the last 10 years is round my middle (worst place for health reasons).

Yesterday I did have a quick look in a 'reasonable' shop ie the place I have bought the last two 'Christmas' outfits (aka the only thing I have that isn't black) and the jogging pants I bought for my exercise class. The postponed canal boat trip is this Friday and I now only have a thin summer cardigan and one 'mountain' fleece. I was looking at buying another cardigan (to make my basic black look fresh). When did cardigans and jumpers start costing £20 (probably some time in the 10 years since I last bought anything similar). There were one or two lovely ones (turquoise cobwebby lacy knitted one) but it will have to wait until the January sales or if I sell the house it could be bought with my Christmas money.

I think, especially when we become mothers, we feel guilty about everything (and a mother's place is always in the wrong). When DS3 was 6 months old, we were involved in an accident. I suffered from PTSD and amongst the many things I tortured myself with in the two years it took to get my life back on track again, was the question of whether I should have 'sacrificed' the baby because, as a mother I had a greater duty to my other two children (then aged 3 and 5 years). Whereas I made the split second decision to try to save the baby.

SFD today - just as well as I currently look like a demented Yorkshire Terrier six weeks overdue for a haircut.

Skirting boards have been painted. Used all the old can. Stopped to eat lunch (lots of raw veg with my triple pack dips - enough for another meal or a generous supper) outside in the beautiful sunshine. Nearly ended up on the floor, tried to adjust the position of the chair I was using and it skidded on the floor, just caught the last two inches of seat and averted disaster. When I came to restart the painting couldn't get the new one open (and was getting close to hurting myself with the screwdriver I was using), so I stopped. Haven't done the bit under the radiators to the door (about 8' on one wall, less on the other) but it is the least likely bit to be seen or looked at and isn't as bad as the other bits, so will have to do. My leg was giving me serious grief. I have been repeating "I will not feel sorry for myself, I will not cry" but it has been a close run thing.

Still feeling unsettled as I don't know where I will 'be' tomorrow - bed will have to be dismantled, couch is not comfortable for 'lying' on, may be room to put single bed back in tiny room (after the flooring has been done in there) but would be in the way of 'socket cover renovation', attic is still inaccessible. Still lots of moving to do. There will be more order by tomorrow evening (and hopefully I will have somewhere to sleep) but feel like a refugee atm.

Must add to my de-clutter total - mainly baskets of re-cycling (making an effort to use up bits of toiletries, cleaning materials and various dregs and ends of bottles and jars for cooking) and paper (again coming to the end of several notebooks and odd scraps of paper.

Today I am grateful for the lovely sunshine (almost too hot), my bed and painkillers (going to stay here till I feel better and if workmen end up having to help move things I can't do, so be it - mr and mrs builder are great, don't know laminate man. He will have to understand {or be told} that he is only doing this job because I no longer can - if I were well enough to move everything, I could manage the floor -laying as well.).

  • Had a lovely but spendy day yesterday - ordered some needed clothing online, car repair was £20 (woop!) and needed food. Had a lovely time at my friend's BBQ and have done absolutely nothing today - a lovely feeling! So claiming a SFD for today. Have budgeted the £93.33 I received from selling on Amazon to my car repair, said clothing and topped up my petrol/ grocery budgets until payday on the 15th, leaving me with £73 in my bank account. I'd really like to be able to spend only £30 between now and then, because I also need winter boots for work, and have seen some perfect ones in Marks for £40, so if I could empty my categories into clothing when I get paid (YNABer), that would be perfect.

mothernerd, sounds like you are making good progress with your projects; hope you've found somewhere comfy to sleep!

    New totals:

    Groceries: £25.73/£52.57 (until 15th September)
    £120 15th September- 15th October

    Fuel: 0/£16.14 (until 15th September)
    £60 15th September - 15th October

    Daily Exercise: 3/ 18
    SFD 4/18
    Food Bank 0/£3

Just a quick check in, yesterday was a SFD. Had my daughters and scrummy grandson to play and a trip to the park. All good fun but I probably ate too much sandwiches, scones. Then got invited for a meal by ex boyfriend we are just good friends who treated me.
Unfortunately my tummy cannot cope with all this food, had a horrid night and morning lots loo trips. embarrassing as had painters here painting outside and inside house. Too scared to eat much today, cut out coffee and tea, head banging now tho. Trying without tablets Dr. gave me today.

Spend day today the paint I thought I had was silk not matt. Nevermind they should finish tomorrow as every room is messed up now. Usually paint myself but stained ceiling tried and few times and never looked good. PLUS outside they were trembling walking on one part roof.

Phoenix something will turn up and better to be cautious if you are unsure.

Fmess get a new mattress need one in the long run plus a good night's sleep is priceless. Try Facebook put wanted on free around local area maybe.

    Hello all,

Hope you've had good weekends. SFD fail yesterday - needed toilet roll - I MUST plan better! But got one today so not too bad.

Lilt - I see your £80.14 on groceries and I raise you £97.14;)...although I literally have no place to fit any more food and am hear and now swearing that no purchases apart from veg, bread and milk will now be made!

Fmess - hooray for free tickets, that sounds great! Hope you're getting some rest. I agree with people about the mattress - it is important as sleep has so much effect on your well being, it may be worth trying out the ideas people have suggested and see if you can put off getting a new one though.

Phoenix - sorry to hear about the flat/lost deposit, but everyone is right, much better to go with your instincts on these things, it would be your home, so you have to feel comfortable.

Caeraugirl - glad DS is doing OK. The Judith Beck book is great, hope things go well for you this time. I am STILL the same weight I was when I came back from holiday in June.:o

Mothernerd - hope painting goes well! You are a great leader! I need to get on with painting too and you are inspiring me!

Nannyg - have a lovely holiday.

Dolly - we have been staining the fence today too! Borrowed a weird spray painter thing from FIL that took us a while to get the hang of but result isn't too bad.

Calling14 - sorry to hear you're not feeling too good again, take care of yourself.
