Hope
Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering 'it will be happier'...”
― Alfred Tennyson
DD and DS have just surfaced from their slumber sleepy eyed and full of laziness. I can get cross and try and get them motivated to venture out of the house or I can let them be and DS can squeeze into his shoes and rugby boots this week and suffer the consequences. Dilemma.

heh teenagers. Put it to DS, he can stay home but that means he has to play in teeny tiny shoes....his call and no moaning from him about too tight shoes if he opts to stay home!0 -

I would leave it. My older DS now has an allowance. Part of that is to go on clothes. He doesn't want to go shopping so he now has long trouser about 3 inches above his ankles. Does he care? Nope so I am not going out of my way to accommodate him. But I understand it is different with shoes/boots. By the way have you checked at local rugby grounds/school to see if they have a second hand boot selection. Some do.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Well- where did that week go? already been 6 days since last post despite good intentions, but not enough hours in the day at the moment.....
Thank you all for popping by and posting updates and I WILL be posting more regularly - I have another 6 days work to go, all these bits of work are starting to add up into more or less a full time job! Have had a big push on the projects as well as all the part time jobs and it has kept us afloat for the last 2 months , enough in bank and scheduled to come in to see us through to end feb, hopefully when work should pick up anyway.
Christmas- lovely time spent with family - everyone together (17) of us) for Christmas and boxing day then, lots of noise and general chaos. Exhausted for New Year, DD went to a friends party - catching up with old school friends, DS home with us and quite sad as wanted DD to stay home with him. Very sedate welcome to the New Year, and think I snoozed in front of the open fire most of the evening! Did not manage to catch with many friends as so exhausted but it was nice just being home with DD and DS. Went to spend weekend with mum and dad, and helped mum buy new wardrobes which we will go and fit for her next weekend. That made her very happy as she has been desperate to replace them as doors hanging off the old ones. Dad's mobility reduced even further -life is getting harder for him, blindness, diabetes, kidney problems, obesity, hypertension all taking their toll. Very sad to see him so. Noticed mum getting tired much more easily now too ( both 73). Have vowed to see them as much as possible this year.
DS back at school. Took DD back to uni yesterday, so feeling a little unsettled again, but nowhere near as bad as last term. DH happier in new job and likes his shiny new toy - AUdi A4. AM hoping the increase in taxes balances out- have lots of budget balancing to do. ALso replaced washing machine (Tesco clubcard) and dishwasher (NW points vouchers - the ones I thought I had expired) and I gave in and let DH buy new smart tv (£495) - our only big spend on ourselves - but all my extra work just before Christmas paid for that). DS very happy!
Dreading next two weeks - SA tax returns to be done.
This all sounds so boring, so I will switch off now. Spent this afternoon looking up quadratic equations so I could explain them to DS - he missed several lessons when he was off for a week - and was struggling- last did them in 30 yeaars ago!!!!!no wonder I fell tired.

Very sensible chevalier! trouble is that money burns a hole in DS's pockets and he's not able to manage himself yet - it would all go on "stuff". Managed to get rugby boots today (£25 in sports direct so not too bad) but no luck with shoes and other things. He is big so those sizes rarely available in second hand uniform shop at school.
