That out of the way, we had a lovely weekend. DS and DD got on really well and were just happy being at home together, We pottered and relaxed and watched lots of DVD's I dozed a lot with open fire going from late afternoon. DH being very nice to both DD and DS, he doesn't show it much but he has really missed her. DD even made the comment that She thought Dad had really really missed her. DH even helped me voluntarily(!) chop onions and chicken and clear up whilst I cooked the 4 dishes.
We all drove DD to uni late afternoon. Perhaps DH is starting to realise that I am going to beat this with or without him so he might as well tag along?;) I no longer seek his advice or need his approval about the debt issues, and that has been very liberating (perhaps for both of us).
Lilt - yes he was being "nice" this weekend

I am glad he is getting with the program seemingly. Nice for you not to have to fight every inch of the way.
MSE is being continually spammed by bots related to a post from January requesting info on a brand seemingly too good to be true. Long story short, s t ! l h a u s K i t c h e n s - who are scammers and now spammers, are trying to make MSE remove the bad feedback on the post, as it was locked and still remains visible on google searches for the company, whereas they have cleansed the rest of the webs negative feedback.
Hope you get some work done. I am so lost on ideas for xmas

So pleased you had a good family weekend. Open fire - bliss. I would be snoozing too
Quite rightly you needed a new bag. For one to last 4 years is ace, some people I know buy a bag every week! Great to hear your DH is on board too. 3 years ago when we were in the debts of despair my husband found it alarming that I kept everything and I mean everything logged on spreadsheets However, he soon started to enjoy reading them back and noting just how far we had come.
Enjoy your day.0 -

Hi Lilt, Thank You and Good Luck with Xmas shopping!
Am definitely not the person to ask for Christmas suggestions. The trouble is that I hate wastage and hate the thought that something might not be used or enjoyed. So For the past few years (since children got older) I have cheated big time and I ask all my siblings what they would like me to get for nieces and nephews, so I order online when possible and then go out armed with any leftover bits to buy a day or two before Christmas! Anyone else gets vouchers of different descriptions - boring I know and not very Christmas spirited.
I got to this place because I felt that the gift buying had become so stressy that it spoilt Christmas for me - Everyone comes to ours for Christmas so I have to prepare for 17 people for 3-4 days, which I love doing - its a really big family get together. Luckily my siblings understand, a couple friends I have do NOT as they make such a big thing of the gift giving ( they have a single child who has so many gifts from them that it takes 2 days to wrap and all of Christmas day to open them) which is fine as that is what makes them happy, but actually really annoys me! -They are good friends in other ways that matter so its OK:p.

Hi NOA,
Thought I'd pop in with some christmas cheer.....
I love christmas and its the only thing I've ever been good at saving for..!!! We stopped doing presents for grown ups a good few years ago and just do a token for the grannies from DD.. All still adds up though! I can't imagine catering and looking after 17 people....!! Most I've done is about 10, but as 4 of my family now live abroad its only a small affair and this year we may in fact stay at home just the 3 of us and chill in our p.j's... OH doesn't really do Christmas and DD gets a bit bored playing with my little nieces... I would still go and visit them though as I do like a toddler for christmas.. (just for an hour or so..!)
OH always buys me gift cards which I love as I can use them throughout the year, usually on essential purchases but it means i'm not spending money out of my bank.!
I also do a fair amount online.. amazon is my best friend as dd loves dvd's and books...and I always have finished before the second week in december and before the shops get silly busy..!! I shall start in November.. just waiting for dd's christmas list to go up...!!!!
Must fly.. and must remember to buy that winning lottery ticket..

Hi Puzz,
I didn't mean to come across as all scroogie, I love Christmas, just not all the gift shopping! After a certain age it gets so difficult to shop for kids, either they already have it, or they don't like it or it doesn't fit (Or the mum doesn't like it!). Christmas isn't Christmas without a toddler, when the most exciting thing is the noise and the jolliness and the wrapping paper regardless of what's in it!
To be honest many years ago I had got fed up with Christmas and then it was suddenly fun again (next generation came along)- as my two got older the "fun" fizzled out a bit but then younger nieces and nephews came along and brought the fun back again for everyone. This year we will have ages 4-73 amongst us 3 generations and its wonderful.it's so loud and noisy and chaotic (and exhausting!:D) x

You didn't come across as scroogie at all, you can't be if you host for that many people!!! Sounds like a lot of fun in your house!
I remember when I was about 15/16 I really didn't like christmas and didn't get back into it until I had my dd, its all about the little people isn't it...
