  • Thanks Bob and Brizzle :-)

Checked up on the account the Child benefit goes into (which I usually raid to pay tax in January) and there is about £1500 saved in there, although some of this may go back to tax man as DH is on 51K gross + benefits - not quite sure how the benefits like Car/fuel
affect CB calcs. Also have about £600 saved in another account where I have been putting the odd expenses cheque here and there for the voluntary work. Am pleased with myself as I can use that for the extra expenses of all the extra birthdays andChristmas, plus extras for school stuff - DS has lost his trainers :-( bought new 4 weeks ago.

However I have another 2 tyres to buy for my car, and DS music lessons to pay for still. Oh and some rugby padding as DS now playing several times a week. Now my little pot seems even smaller :-( but better than nothing I guess.

    Nite nite everyone.

Oh lord another one with lost trainers in the first weeks of term. Saw another person saying the same. Must be very frustrating indeed.

Funny enough we are in a similar boat re CB. I am imminently due with child 2 and so should apply for the increase in CB. However OH'S company decider a couple of months ago that they were going to harmonise benefits packages with their Us counterparts so he had to make some choices about what to do with the credits. He ended up buying 15 days leave, Denplan, & private medical care but even after doing so it has impacted his wages in an upward direction.
We neither of us know whether he now earns X or is merely in a situation where he receives benefits to the value of x. It wasn't really messaged as a pay rise. And we've had no letters to say it is. It's merely the balance on what he had to have with the benefits increase.
So we don't know. Last thing we want is to end up having to repay a years CB. But I'm hoping if we do the form for baby 2 then they should help us with that information? Ironically I'm the one who does a tax return each year ad the self employed one but I don't earn enough to bother anyone.

    Complicated!

    Thanks Bob.
How imminent is imminent? should we be following you around with clean towels and hot water? :-)

Lost property GRRRRRR. Very frustrating indeed. DS is one of the bigger taller kids so when he loses something it never gets found as there seems to be a culture of finders keepers. It drives me mad.
He's pretty good normally, but last year he lost a school hoodie at £35 and track bottoms at £30 at the beginning of the year. The track bottoms appeared at the end of the year after someone had had a full year's use out of them, whereas I had had to buy some more new ones.

Re:CB I need to find out soon to make sure I have enough to pay back if we need to, as DH's total package is worth about £70 which would mean we have to pay it all back if benefits are included in calculations.

Feel really stressed and exhausted this morning. At 4.20am the phone rang and woke me really suddenly. I immediately panicked as I always assume the worst if the phone rings in the night. I answered it , silence and then some beeps, from a withheld number. I was furious because it triggered what I assume was a panic attack ( couldn't breath) and couldn't stop crying - never reacted quite so extremely to anything like that before. Developed a pounding headache with occasional sharp stabbing pains within minutes. Didn't get back to sleep until six-ish , alarm went off at 6.30.
Have TPs so cold calls have reduced but that's the first in the middle of the night.

Have a feeling won't achieve much today, so just going to potter with some more filing.....might even need to have a nap or a long soak but that seems very decadent in the middle of the day.

Oh god that sounds a hideous start to the day NOA. So sorry. I can imagine you may have thought it was your parents or something like that. It's not the same but I get alarm calls on my mobile and the last one happened at 4am a few weeks ago. It was really awful having to wait to hear from my poor OH who had to go to the shop to check on it. Turned out the stupid tenants upstairs had yet again had a leak which had tripped my lights and in turn the alarm! It certainly gave me a horrible start to the day. Hope you feel better now?

That is annoying about lost property. As my son is still little they tend to be reasonably good at keeping his clothes together for him. But we used to lose swim goggles a lot when he and I did swim classes as his instructors never seemed to remind him to pick them up post class which is annoying.

I'm due on Monday so yes I'd call that fairly imminent :)

Bob - that could mean any minute now! My DD came a week early and DS 3 weeks early :-) so no hanging around for me.
That's so exciting.....is your son looking forward to being a big brother? :-) :-) :-)

Better thanks, I did think it was my parents. It's been a slow day again. Dull headache still there. Not too much achieved, but managed to clear another lever arch file of paper. Aiming to fill the wheelie bin again by next Thurs (they collect fortnightly).

3 loads of washing/drying to do tonight - Rugby kit pongs from 3 sessions in the hot weather this week and he kept forgetting to bring it. Needed for away match tomorrow - 2hrs each way - needless to say am not going to watch!

Invoiced £134 for the weekend part time work, got two more sessions this weekend. Will cover new trainers and birthday food/treats next weekend for DS.
Annoyed with myself because I have got out of the habit of checking bank account and the mortgage DD bounced as was £200 short in the account. I was at work that day and funds need to be in by 3.30pm - I did the transfer at 8pm but it was too late. They have charged £10 for the privilege :-(

Have a great weekend everyone :-)

Oh boo sorry to hear about your mortgage. Will that have implications?
I live in fear of the same thing. It's always a worry when times are tight.
Wow so both yours were early. I think I feel a false sense of security because my son was 2 weeks overdue and didn't end up coming in the end until I was on day 18 over. They had to blast him out ;)

Stinky rugby kit sounds er fun. Hope you have a relaxing weekend.

    Hi Bob,
No implications on mortgage - as I called the Building Society the next day and paid it - it was still within the month so not a missed payment. It's the bank that's added to the charge for having to refuse the payment. They are offering me an upgraded account at £10 a month so that if it happens again I won't get charged. No thanks, I just gotta remember to double check towards the end of the month!
My Ds was the opposite - he literally fell out - midwife had to catch him... she had just told me it will be a while yet, have a walk around, I took a couple of steps, and there he was :-)

Washing cycle just ended, so off to hang on airer - should dry overnight. Friday night fun. Hm.

You have me getting all broody now Bob!

Ha ha fell out. God I wish! A very good friend had her 2nd son at home in the bathroom whilst alone with her toddler! She said it was incredible how quickly it all took place. And she'd been like me with the 1st so maybe I should be more ready ;)

Really glad all is well on the mortgage front. It feels such a big one doesn't it. I think because our situation is that we have a mortgage on a BTL property that has a tenant in it, then rent a house ourselves, I feel anxiety at the thought of ever messing up and causing trouble for the tenant. Just another slightly complicated area of our life :)
Anyway time to get a shift on, off to a school event this morning.

All the best Bob - hope you don't have to wait too long :-)

Tired from the weekend so have had a pottering day so far.
No news on the quotes sent out last week so getting nervous.
Lost a bit of focus and don't feel very motivated at the moment. Totally bored too so that doesn't help. I have been thinking more and more about new ventures, wastes a lot of time, but I feel its important. Not quite sure where I'm at.

Can't stop thinking about the book in my head.

Have a happy and productive Monday everyone :-)
