Ha ha :) reminds me of the old joke about the toilets being nicked from the police station ;)

No summer is never my best time. Traditionally September to march is what I'd call peak cafe time. Colder, less options for people being in the park, etc. But all bets are off.
Anyway Tommorows another day blah de blah :)

  • Today is another admin catch up/office day, with lashings of housework and a suitcase of washing.
No SE work at the moment - it has gone very quiet :-(

DS true to style, came home with 50c of his 75Euro pocket money from the german exchange that was all paid for. But he did buy 2 boxes at 15E each of local speciality marzipan - one for me and one for the host family, so I guess that's only 45euros in 5 days. I had lots of hugs last night and in the car driving to school this am :-)

    have a good day everyone,

  • Another week gone by and not quite sure when or where or how.

Life goes on with busy-ness as usual.
Paperwork for mortgage arrived and signed and sent back Hopefully there should not be any reason for any glitches. Fixed for 5 years at 2.6% - this is higher than we could have got but they were only fixed for 2 years, and this setup was also fee free. I figured that if I know what to plan for in terms of outgoings it will offer the stability. Who knows what interest rates will be in 2 years time. At least this way I can draw up a 5 year plan for budgeting. May have made a mistake but I made a decision that I justified to myself and it is one less thing I have to worry about. Monthly payment is £50 less than we have been paying for the last few years, the plan being to put that away each month (and it bit more if possible) and make a payment to interest only part of mortgage every time I have 500 in the pot. We only have 8 years and 9 months left till end of term.

Now back into the normal term, DD at uni, DS back from exchange and into swing of GCSE's, in B team for Rugby now so that wipes out Saturdays too. Grade 7 Sax exam looming in not too distant future. No plans as yet for his birthday.

Today has been a non-day, just pottered doing bits of filing and trying to get up to date on budget as it looks like a lean coupleof months ahead re:SE work and will need to be very strict in the lead up to Christmas. Need to go and see parents soon as it has been 3 weeks since I last visited - dad had a fall (not hurt luckily) and was by himself at the time - I need to get them to agree to have a monitored service of some sort.

Nieces birthday at the weekend so it was a bit spend. Also caught up with friend whose wife died last year, children seem to be doing OK, but he looks so much older. Felt guilty as its been about 6 months since I have seen him, but it is hard to know how to support/help without appearing pushy.
Anyway, need to get dinner on now....

Well done with the mortgage NOA. A good plan to reduce it a bit more too :) !!

I have to face the end of a fixed rate at the end of the year. I think the idea of going for five years of stability has to be right and it means no more decisions need to be taken on it for quite a long time. I hope I can do the same.

Hoping the SE picks up. It could be that I will be SE at the end of the year !! It may be I am getting too old and grumpy to be bossed around by numpties......we'll see :).

Thanks Mrs B, the SE is always tricky in the winter months, but last year we suddenly had a whole influx of work end of Nov early Dec which meant working throughout the Christmas period - a pain but a welcome one as it meant we weren't living week to week last few months. Fingers crossed something similar happens again.......
Am always better at helping others than helping myself. My empathy doesn't often reach in to me. I think its because in helping others you can temporarily forget your own issues. e.g. All our money problems fade into insignificance when I think about the two children who no longer have their mother(none of the life insurance/pension/other policies that have paid out will ever be able to buy them another mum). Of all the "stuff" I do at the moment it is the volunteering work that gives me the most satisfaction, even though for us personally it would be better if I spent that time earning.

Thanks Brogden :-) it was all quite painless - I realised that as an exiting customer, as long as I didn't want to make any changes of any sort, and just wanted to switch, no questions were asked at all. If I had realised that a month ago I would have done it then and not waited for the appointment where they went through everything with a fine tooth comb to check affordability. Doh!

I love the freedom SE gives (am sure you would too) as long as you're good with rollercoasters ;-) I would find it very hard to go back to being bossed around.

Anyway, feeling a bit flat at he moment. The Fun factor is missing in my life at the moment.

Today am flitting from new idea to new idea.
    Do a counselling course/psychology course.
Start making crafts for Christmas and sell at fairs.
Set up a kids craft club in the lead up to Christmas.
Do more with my direct selling things I have been signed up with for years.
    Focus on writing my book.
    Look into fostering.

All a bit random, I know.
yours feeling-not-so-frivolous-today but open to suggestions ;-)
