My cousin told me about one of the best Christmas's her 3 young sons say they had. She hadn't gone back to work and her husband had been made redundant.
She knitted them three commando type dolls. They spent Xmas day in the garden with their dolls hiding out in the bushes and running them up and down the zip wire (clothes line).Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

Well I'm back in my study - doing a little more on the assignment! as ordered by Ampersand! - Thankyou for you kind words
Feel very organisised about tonight - just waiting for sheets to dry to make up a bed for a friend who's staying over - then do my make up and get dressed - hair and shower are all done and various child related runnng around bits are all done! Went to DD3Christmas music concert which was lovely and made me feel very festive - bumped into the Rev when i was in the village too!
Right, got a few more words to write then I'm off to get ready!
Butti your cousins Christmas sound great and its amazing what kids remember and its not the expensive stuff in my experience!0 -

Hi Judi
I stumbled across your dairy on Wednesday evening I've been reading every evening, except last night - work Christmas night which I had budgeted for and got my friend to look after for me out of sight out of mind if it's had kept it in my purse I expect I would have spent it!
Well done on your journey so far. I have no words of wisdom to give as I am needing to sort some stuff out too!
I have to sort out my signature as it's out of date but will do this tomorrow as it's getting late for me now but I was determined to catch up!

Kdalwayskint - thanks for stopping by and saying hello! Hed a great night last night and was a little worse for wear today!!! Had a great time at the Light up a Life event - I really love my job and being able to make a difference to so many people! The lights looked amazing.
Really need to look at my budget tonight and update my YNAB! Had a bit of a spendy day yesterday! - but still working on my assignment and hoping to get the bulk of it done tonight! so budget might have to wait!!!0 -
Well assignments are all done and uploaded! So time to get organised for Christmas!
I get paid rediculously early this month (19th) which is going to cause chaos with my budgets - just need to pay CC's leave money in to cover January bills then move the rest into my spends acount and be very careful!!!
And I need to curb this desire to buy everything!!! Not started Christmas food shopping and most likely wont get a delivery slot of an online order now!!! I am ususally much more organised than this!!!
Got school christmas fayre on Sat so need to do some baking this week - and got a friends retirement tomorrow - I have paid for the meal in adavnce but will need to buy a few drinks and also haven't got a present for her! Like I said really not organised!!!!
Anyway NSD today making it 3 so far this month which is pretty poor but I can't even see it getting better as I have so much on!0 -
Not much happening MSE wise - wet to a friends retirement last night - managed to get away with only spending £15! alot lass than I expected and managed to blag a lift home instead of a taxi!
Oh and second week of CSA paid - its looking good - maybe he has realised that he should be paying it!0 -

Judi - Being paid early doesn't need to be a problem - just put it into YNAB as being money for January so it isn't available until then. That's how I plan on dealing with my DH getting paid early.
It doesn't make any difference to my money as I get paid 30th of month every month.

The kids do have a habit of just dumping stuff in thier rooms after wearing once then putting it all out for washing when they tidy thier rooms - I need to get on top of getting them to tidy up as they go along rather than waiting till thier rooms get bad. I also exepect them to put clean clothes away and they are often shoved in drawers or under beds!
I know this is an old post, but have you considered getting your children to do their own washing? Not sure how old they are, but I started my own washing at 13 because I used to do exactly the same and my Mum got sick of it.
First few weeks I was all over the place and even had to go to school with no knickers because I didn't wash any (just tights!). Needless to say I learnt my lesson.
I actually think that making me do my own washing made me much better around the house. In comparison to my OH who does one panick-wash every Sunday night because he has no work shirts... I'm pretty good at keeping the laundry basket only half full.
I know it can be difficult because you feel like you want to do those things for them, but it'll make them better people in the long run.
Also, you have enough kids in the house to cover cooking a few nights of the week. How old is your youngest? I believe any child in secondary school should be capable of cooking dinner by themselves, considering they do it in a classroom where there are 30 children supervised by one adult...
Things like that might help take some stress off you and also teach your children to be more responsible in other ways.0
