I like the new title - what I might do (later of course once I have done some work!!) is to work out how to change the title and move the thread to the diaries board - as I think this might be a long journey and it doesn't seem quite right on this board now!

and yes I still have along way to go - Christmas is a real challenge for me (as I have said over and over! I'm bored of hearing myself say that!) and this is when I would often slip into old (CC funded) ways - I am hoping that I can avoid this! I have bought most things i need now I think! But that wouldn't have stopped me in the past - I would just keep spending! There are almost 3 weeks still to go!!! I need to hide my purse, disconnect amazon and paypal from my bank account and hibernate until the 24th!!

    The "I'm less money-idiot more money-savvy" Diary?

(By the way I have lurked quietly in the background reading every step cheering you along (and being a little bit scared of Ampersand!)) You're doing so well x

Maybe it's time to sit down and look at what you've already bought. I find it useful to buy any 'extra' pressies as stupid little ones. A few years ago my brother got given a plastic reindeer that sh*t chocolate raisins.
    He loved it!

Between you and me I am a little scared of Ampersand too! But I do miss her telling me off when she's not around!

And I do like your title - but please stop lurking and join in the fun!

I do need to look at what I've already got Butti - The problem is I just need to find some time to do this - I didn't get my assignment finished today - I'm around 2/3 of the way through but need to finish it by Tues plus 2 other short ones! I have a hectic weekend and I'm in work on Monday - but off on Tuesday so will finish them then. Once they are in at 5pm I can get on a get organised for Christmas but not got any time off with no kids around! Oh well I am sure it will all sort itself out and if it doesn't no one will die!

On a positive note - I have my Christmas night out tomorrow - everything is paid for upfront (its an all inclusive thing and minibus has been booked). My new money saving mindset means I have not bought a thing towards my outfit - I am wearing a dress, shoes, jewelary and handbag I already had and I haven't even bought a new lippy - the only thing I paid for is my hair cut last week and I needed that anyway!

And another positive is that I got a payment from my ex for CSA (suddenly managed to get his card reader working!!!) I guess he has accepted that he hasn't got much choice!

    That's brilliant.

Now stop reading my diary and get typing.

I am here, judi. Hold on...I'll just put broom on standby.

Time for a small step forward de ma part, seeing a touch of advance panic/ hectic/frenetic hovering before the event.

But not too much, because this is just what we need to see:
'....I am sure it will all sort itself out and if it doesn't no one will die! '

Good news re: CSA. Just keep any income, all comms[even reported from others, if later wiped] from OH recorded, separate, distant. Hand all sandpit nonsense on to those whose job it is to deal with it.

'My new money saving mindset means I have not bought a thing towards my outfit[why on earth would you feel compelled to do so?] - I am wearing a dress, shoes, jewellery and handbag I already hadCOLOR="Magenta"][B]and you will be a knock-out, j'en suis sûr[/B][/COLOR and I haven't even bought a new lippy'.

judi - I've already said it's important you post your nsd count daily, so you show you understand the pause value of each plateau day, as much as each upward day.
    They're missing from recent posts.

You can get another sentence or two of that assignment written, or notes re-shaped EACH DAY NOW, when you declare you're having your Quiet Time[posts passim]. You will also find that another layer of mind will quietly tick over on it if you look at it - have it alongside you in bed - last thing at night.
    So, re:
'I have a hectic weekend and I'm in work on Monday - but off on Tuesday so will finish them then.' Not quite.
Leaving all 'til then will also impact detrimentally on your other enjoyments and all 'living in the moment' pleasures that pop up.
This is the sort of cycle that has lead in the past to some of your racked-up spendy bashes which are no longer part of your baggage.

These things work, judi. Have a triffic night out, but don't be surprised if you find your changed and changing self reacting in a changed manner...that happened last time, didn't it? Positive personal actions and staying that course is a powerful high, addictive in nature and in its brilliant life-changing consequences.

Hello - dear MSE friend Ampersand - I have missed you and your slightly criptic posts! I hope you are well? Park your broom for a bit!

I can't help getting just a little bit panicky before the day - its going to take more than a LBM to fix that - I guess I just feel like evrything is on my shoulders and I need to prove (no idea who to! maybe just myself!) that I am as capable in giving my family the best Christams that any 2 parent household can! But I have come to the reliastion this year that the day will come and go - we will have fun even if it is not perfect in my eyes and it could be a whole lot worse!

As for Christams outfits - I guess it has always been a bit of peer pressure (what are you wearing? where from? etc) but I don't feel that need anymore - my good friend tells me that I win the award for best dressed up based on the fact that when I am not in work or out socialising I look like an absolute scruff but scrub up well when I make an effort apparantly!!!

I will indeed get a bit more of the assignment done - I just needed a bit of a break as my clarity of thought had gone out the window - but read another article and got a bit of a focus again which should see me through to the end. Will try to get a bit done on Sunday after the 'light up a life' event at work that will be emotional and proud with the Rev mother and my kids! Hope my new boss is not terrified by my slightly insane family!

Booze bottle up day is looking like it won't be until next weekend - my planned days off have be usurped by important meetings - but on the plus side it means I have been able to negotiate extra days off during school hols which is better for the kids and childcare - and means I will actually spend time enjoying the fruits of my labour with the ones I love most!

The most amazing thing about my new job is that it makes you realise how important people are and how unimportnat 'things' are!

hwb lying in snug wait in bed, so let me just say what a good read that post makes to close my day, judi,

I am so pleased to see your paras 2/3 capably reasoning and articulating past and present judi in such a mindful way.

In fact, each para contains really sound evidence of 'slowdown' thinking at its self-awareness best. e.g.'I just needed a bit of a break as my clarity of thought had gone out the window - but read another article and got a bit of a focus again'

[I hardly need add praise for your final sentence:-)]

Do have a great night out, a safe minicab home, lift-off when suddenly The Word takes off in your writing[I love that feeling of pure intellectual flight when it comes in academia], then a marvellous 'light up a life' event - during which your new employers will rejoice at their incredible canniness/'luck'/decision-making, which brings you+family package into post. They'll be patting themselves on communal backs so loudly I'll hear them from here.

Aye Cap'n judi, steady as she goes.
