acquired some free wooden pallets to rest wood on ready to creocote, then it wil have a second use as fuel for stove.
Once again you have put the rest of us to shame with all your energy and long list of achievements, skinty! It was particularly good to see that you found and used a barrel of laughter :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Please be careful how you dispose of your creosoted wood. This website says: NEVER burn pressure treated wood, creosote treated timbers, plastic or garbage in your wood stove. When burned, these materials release toxic compounds and heavy metals that can threaten your health and the health of those downwind of you. From my experience as a child, creosoted wood produces horrendous fumes and leaves nasty permanent stains all over the windows of a woodburning stove. I know that the "creosote" sold nowadays is not quite as toxic as the old stuff, but I'd still not want it in my house.
Had great fun with DS1 and family yesterday teatime, and the lasagne didn't last long
As soon as DH went out, I crashed on the sofa
Today I have
- umpteen emails to send
- a phonecall to make
- WMx3 to dry outside outside if possible
- a small "starting school" gift to wrap and post to DGS2
- AGM papers to distribute
- NDNs to visit (they've been in and out like yo-yos this week)
- the back yard to tidy
- another meal to cook for friends this evening: beef to go in the SC, choux buns to bake, SW lemon curd to stir, a raspberry mousse to assemble, veg to prepare, and a very quick S&S all round to be done before they arrive
- if still time, old paperwork to shred.
Meanwhile DH says he is just going to work on the garden railway and come in for meals
Best have breakfast then, and then start flying with a vengeance!0 -
Slight change of plan here. Washing up is done and I now have my face on but DD and I are going to combine all the shopping we need with the trip to the hairdressers, and then take the dogs on a long hike later before bathing them.
Oh and I've found a really easy banana cake recipe so will give it a go. I need to bake cakes I can prepare and freeze so DD can have an 'afternoon tea' for her birthday while I am working away.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Good morning all. Just a quick post from me as dd3 has just appeared wanting breakfast. Hopefully I will be able to post more once they are back at school. I cant remember what I was going to post so I'm sorry if ive missed anything, sending congratulations, hugs and get wells to anyone that needs them
Yesterday was a shopping trip, some bits for the freezer for the weekend and school bits for the eldest 2. Managed to get ds1 his shoes, a size 7 at only 11! going to have bigger feet than his dad. DD1 couldn't get any as she has really wide feet across the toes and takes us ages to find ones to fit. It cost me £35 for their pencil case items alone! School jumpers ordered, another £60 decluttered. just need to get their shirts and trousers and can start on the little 3 (I have most of their uniform).
My cleaning skills showed yesterday. The DC finished school just before we went on holiday so I chucked bookbags into wardrobes and forgot about them until last night:o I opened dd3 to find out she had homework for the holidays and it was completely mashed up in what I can only assume would have been a banana.. It smelt vile! I know there is a few teachers about so if anyone could point me in the right direction for the letters and sounds full list of high frequency words I would be so greatfull. I don't want to look to much of a bad mum.
DH stripped the living room wall on Thursday so it needs lining and just going to paint it for now. We had black paper on that 1 wall and it looks so much brighter in here already.
I have so much I need to do this weekend, starting with the DC rooms and clearing the LR ready for papering.
DH is back from filling up the car, been 5 weeks and we filled it to come back off holiday so done well, so going to make a start and will update later.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554
Mortgage@1 June 18 - £76350
Total debt @june 18 £102311
Debt Jan 25 £8282
Mortgage £51215. Total debt now £594970 -

I will certainly bear this in mind Ionafan  As a precaution I will wrap my gifted rough saw wood pallets in a cheapy plastic decorating sheet, cover it with tarpulins, then re-lay the wood to be crecoted ontop of that......that way I can preserve the pallets from splatters so it's good for burning once it's all doneThe cold never bothered me anyway0 -

So, there has been a hiatus this week!
I was able to blast through the housework somewhat yesterday and spent hours and hours washing!
House training not going so well but we have had 2 nights in the crate. Last night, DH took her out at 3 and she had a wee and when I got up at 7 her crate was dry (she'd had a poo but blanket was dry). We're exhausted though! I can't see me getting much done next week when the kids go back to school. I shall plod on and see what I can get done.
Will just check here and see what I can manage to do while DH is still here.
Where's Fizzwhizz? I haven't *seen her for a while.
Bossy, missed your DS's pic but I bet he's the most handsome little chap still. Take it easy next week when you have your op.
Ionafan, glad your arm is manageable and that you have found a position you can sleep in. A friend of mine tore her rotator cuff and they wouldn't operate as she isn't an athlete! She was 25 at the time and has to live with the pain until she does.
I commented to DH the other day, my kitchen floor has never been so clean- or in fact, so dirty!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Healing vibes to all Pens with snot.
I was asked once by a local in Lamu (an island off north east Kenya) what the biggest difference was between living in Africa and living in England. I had to think about it for quite a while before I realised it was that we bathe in drinking water and flush our toilets with it, as well. I'm so relieved I belong to a group of people who share my discomfort with the ice bucket challenge and are willing to say something about it, so thank you. (Saying that out loud all those years ago means I've never taken drinking water for granted since.)
WM twirling again. This is the first week in four years I haven't been able to get the chalet washing turned around on time, but fortunately the last let of the summer season ends today. We've got another booking for five weeks hence, but in the meantime we'll actually get some time over there and so will some friends. The garden is going to need some serious hacking.
I bought two more nyger seed feeders yesterday because the naughty finches have been queueing for the only one we had by sitting on the normal seed feeders and sifting out all of the seed they're not interested in a dropping it on the ground. The pigeon flock is growing and I know they're all God's creatures but I just can't find it in my heart to love them. And there were rat's teeth marks on a windfall pear yesterday, so I've got to stop them wanting to come into the garden.Better is good enough.0
