Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you Natty for last week's list.

There are 3 levels per day with Level 1 being very basic, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. Feel free to mix and match to suit your own personal circumstances.

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week:

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

Thanks for the new list, Dusty, and to Natty for last week's. I shall try to do something from the Level Three or Extras list each day, but I shall do the big clean on Thursday, ready for visitors on Friday.

Not feeling too good today - very very tired and depressed. Maybe another migraine coming on. I am about to fall into bed. Haven't achieved anything I actually wanted to do today except wash my trainers.

    Goodnight all x

  • Hi all,
Been lurking for a long time and have taken on board a lot of your fab advice but now feel I need some support. I do try but some days - well you all know what happens "murder she wrote" "coffee time" or "lets do a bit of web surfing". My problem is "Procrastination" (if that's how u spell it). Should I do this that or the other by which time it's tea time!!!! I ain't done nothing.
Bit of back ground - voluntary redundant 5 yrs ago (no financial worries as yet) - kids grown up - 2 grandchildren - look after 3 days a week - no problem. Hubby works away during week :( - home weekends (yes heaven for some but getting tedious now but he's due home in next month permanently - have to get used to living with each other again - 10 yrs is a long time!!!!
So need to get sort a few hot spots etc before he brings all stuff from flat he lives in during week.
Will try and log in daily but with grandchildren etc it may be every few days.
    Thanks for your support :A

Jolysmissus, seclome aboard, join in with someof our HHCs (read first post to find out what they are). Often getting started is te hardest thing. Doing something will be better than doing nothing so maybe try to stick to our lists for the first week.

Had 6 hours sleep so still feeling a bit blurgh so it will be a slow start and lots of pottering today.

    Happy birthday, mummyroys!

OK, it's morning and I woke up just before 7:00. So far I have tidied the washing away from the bathroom, put away last night's washing up (drip-dried!), emptied the DW and made a cup of tea for us. DH is still snoozing.

Thanks for hugs and feel-better vibes, Dusty, HB and lynne. I am still feeling very tired and a bit meehhh but will plod on until I simply can't do any more.

    Welcome gollysmissus.

    Today's plan is
    - 4 emails
    - 2 phonecalls
    - clean out the fridge
    - cover antique chair seat (yesterday, in readiness, I unpicked and pressed a lovely mini-curtain sample that I bought for 50p several months ago :money: )
    - when it stops raining, screw the new handle on the outside storage box
    - decide what to get DD for her birthday
    - go to Old Wives' fish and chip supper

If I succeed in all of that, I shall be pleased - and if I still have any energy left I can easily find more bits to do from my Toots list.

    Morning flyladies. Welcome gollysmissus.

Ionafan, take it easy my friend, you'll need all your energy for your visitors this weekend.

I had another lovely day out with the family and the dogs yesterday but wow I'd forgotten how busy living with family can be. All the extra prep, cooking etc and the minor irritations. Why is there a cup ring on the coffee table just 2 inches away from the coaster?

Anyway, the weather is not so good today, so I may suggest an indoor activity somewhere but still waiting for DD and her BF to get up.

Going to cut DS's hair and then get moving.
Spend less now, work less later.

    Morning everyone

Big thankyou (and happy birthday) to Mummyroys. Just ordered a window vac with all the bits and paid £4 using my tesco points. Been wanting one for ages.

So we are out at the races today, havent a clue what I am wearing, weather forecast was terrible but its actually not that bad at the moment. Clothes for the kids has ended up costing me a fortune. Must make sure that in future they both have some smart clothes that fit them in their wardrobe at all times! DS2 is incredibly fussy about clothes and DS1 is at that awkward age where mens clothes are still slightly too big and its hard finding kids stuff that fits him.

Anyhow, its our last fling of the holidays then back to the normal routine, and back to some serious moneysaving.

Have a good bank holiday everyone!

Hi and welcome. In some ways I used to find it harder when I wasnt working because of this. Then you feel really guilty when you are at home all the time and the house looks a mess! Now I have the opposite problem, I dont have any time to do anything because I am working so much.

But this thread is great and very supportive, and doing a bit each day really does make a difference.

I didn't get as much done as I would have liked in the house last week but I tied up a lot of loose ends at work so I don't mind too much. It does mean I will be playing catch up as I would like all of my list finished by the end of the week. I have a few things to do in town and then I will make a start when I get back.

    Tuesday - All bathrooms

Wash all bath mats One set left to wash

    Thursday - 2nd bedroom

Tidy inside wardrobe, ditch clutter, rehome if necessary and organise better
    Change bedding

    Friday - kitchen

    Menu plan from inventory
Wipe inside all kitchen cupboards, drawers and fridge
    Tidy and organise larder cupboard

    Monday - Music room

    Tidy music
Sort out a better filing system
    Wipe all shelves

    Tuesday - 3rd bedroom

    Sort wardrobe and drawers
    Make bed

    Wednesday - 4th bedroom

    Sort games
    Sort wardrobe

    Thursday - Living room

    Sort chest
    Sort table
    Tidy corner

    Friday - Filing

Sort through and shred anything not needed
Make sure everything is clearly labelled
Make a list of everyone to call to ensure Mr AJM can speak to any customer services while I am away
Archive any older paperwork (I need to check now long to keep all documents for)
    MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200
    MFiT-T7 No. 6 £2873.51/£30,000
